Hey guys - did my first DIY oil change today using mityvac. when in the engine bay i noticed a loose connection, assuming this isn't by design! coulpe of pics attached, can anyone confirm how this should be connected? not sure if it has snapped or some kind of fastener is missing!!
close in and further out pic with the connection circled. it's right next to the oil cap
I think it is the full load breather hose connection to the intake duct. Looks like the weld to the pipe broke. Looks like you need a new left side intake duct. It is supposed to look like this:
Thanks guys - it's the V8. Appreciate the feedback. It's due back in to the dealer to replace some engine mount bolts so will mention this, but maybe super glue in the interim!

If the superglue doesn't work maybe some RTV silicone sealant?
Has worked for me on all sorts of things, just make sure you don't get any on the inside of the tube!

... and be sure to let the RTV silicon cure before starting the engine!
IMHO, something had been shaking the part enough to cause it to break off. I suspect that since the dealer is replacing the engine mounting bolts, that would indicate a possible cause/effect for the shaking, and the broken part. If so, any temporary fix here will probably be fairly useless until the engine mounting issue is resolved.
RTV won't hold. However, There are things you can do. JB Weld makes a plasticweld epoxy that is pretty good for gluing plastics. It is available in putty or syringe form. It is good enough to stick vinyl together, so that's saying something. Anyway, often times gluing plastic is difficult and requires some thought. The duct is probably a form of nylon.
If you choose to use JB plastic weld, try to have a fillet around the outside to help secure the fitting.
Also, it's OK to drill some tiny holes and use thin wire, such as 0.020 inch aircraft safety wire, to secure the part in addition to gluing. Just make sure to seal the holes when finished.
