My cabin temperature in my 15 R varies widely. Have it set at 22c (72F) but it climbs up and gets warm in the cabin, then the A/C kicks in and gets chilly then kicks out, then the cycle continues.

Spoke to dealer who of course has never heard of this before and says no TSB on this.


Has anyone else had this happen, and if so do you have a fix or a known TSB?

 

You need to set the climate to auto - otherwise you will get the experience you mention.

I never use auto because it's purpose is to try to keep the temp the same all the time, air or heat go on and off as it attempts to do this.

 

I also have a 15 R (Coupe) and the A/C is doing a great job keeping the temperature at the set figures when in auto. I was just on a longer trip were the outside temperature varied rather much (from 16 celsius to 33 celsius going over some mountains and down to fjords and up over montains again). The A/C was set to 22 celsius and I have no complaints of how it performed it's function.

I don't remember for sure, but there might be a setting of the A/C system in the menu were you can set the temperature respons to different "levels" (quick, slow, normal - or something like that).

 

 

Yep, have that same problem, auto or not, heat varies hot & cold, A/C varies between cold and not cold. With the A/C on, sometimes I smell the smell that cars make when you turn the A/C off, so I guess it is the compressor kicking on & off. When the heat is on and it gets cold, I check to actually see if I accidentally hit the A/C. I've never had such wild fluctuations in the temps like this in any other car. For me it is fine for about the first half hour then starts to fluctuate. Have never had it checked because I don't want them joyriding my car for a 1/2 hr to see if it exhibits...

 

My pop just finally got out of 5 months of back and forth to the dealer with his Merc. 2014 model year E350. The temperature was random, and sub 60 degrees would heat to 80 degrees. The dealer didn't believe him, so he had to take video holding a thermometer next to the dash's assessment of what temp it was. It was frustrating. I would do a few rides with him, and man... it would say 68 degrees and obviously be 80. It was horrible. Never understood what was wrong, but this behavior is not a feature, and it should be fixed under warranty.

I have dual zone heating/cooling, and haven't experienced (whether using auto or not) big fluctuations or differences in temp.
