I own a F-Type convertible for about a month now. I bought it used from an official dealer. Surprisingly, The dealer can't tell me if the infotainment system can be updated to the latest version. My car was built in 2018, but it's labeled as a 2019 model. It's currently holding version 2017C.10-4957. I took it for service to another dealer closer to home, whom I asked to update but he ditched the question redirecting me to the original seller.
It's also worth noting that I still am not connected to InControl. I created an account and can find my car by VIN, but no way to go further in the procedure from inControl website. Again the dealer blames it on a bug on a higher JLR level, but it's been over 4 weeks now...
Fortunately the car is very enjoyable as it is, I really wish I could get Waze from the main screen, I fear for my first speeding ticket...
When my MY18 went in for some warranty work the software was updated and I can now (allegedly, I haven't actually tried it yet) use CarPlay and Android Auto. I think it's on 19C. The car even offered to read me an incoming SMS the other night - that was a bit of a surprise!
Thanks for pointing that your 2018 model is up to date. I did get the incoming SMS alert the other day though. The technician from the original garage told me that the issue with the F-Type is that the assembly line was very inconsistent regarding the electronic fitted in this particular car. It's not like he can guarantee that models after that year can be updated or not, he had lots of surprises when upgrading the systems. I'll push some more to get a proper diagnosis.
