Default Wireless apple carplay and android auto interface

Has anyone installed a WIRELESS APPLE CARPLAY AND ANDROID AUTO INTERFACE from Unique Auto in a 2018 400 Sport? https://unique-ad.co.uk/product/wire...ype-2015-2018/ According to my service advisor, the 400 Sport's inControl setup is unique. It uses the inControl Touch Pro but not the same as the 2019s. It is also lacking the Aux input under the armrest like the other 2018 models.

Isn't that model upgradable to carplay via software by the dealer?

I have a letter on Jaguar letterhead that lists my VIN range stating there's a free upgrade however it was nothing more than a lie. I took my car to three different dealerships and none of them can load the smartphone pack onto my vehicle. It's also running the latest 19C software. So after searching since October this seems to be the best option to add Android Auto to my vehicle.

I'm guessing your car either has the 8" screen (not the 10.2" widescreen) or it doesn't have a SIM port next to the USB sockets, or both...

Here is an entire thread on the free upgrade that nobody with an F-Type older than a 2019 can get. This is why I have given up and am asking about the Unique Audio solution.

[QUOTE=Erok;2235807]Here is an entire thread on the free upgrade that nobody with an F-Type older than a 2019 can get. This is why I have given up and am asking about the Unique Audio solution.
I had the update done last month on my MY2018 base model at my second year service.
The Infotainment update was accomplished by replacing the IMC (infotainment Master Controller)...this after multiple attempts by the service tech to update via SOTA(Software Over The Air). IMC replacement necessitated an update to the maps for which they didn't charge me.

I had attempted to do the update myself when the notice first came out from Jaguar, but couldn't get it to go through, so I waited until my service visit.
BTW I see no improvement in functions or usefulness, just a different voice for the navigation application.
Hope this helps

Smartphone Pack is only available with the 10.25" widescreen, and the "high" media input panel which has a SIM &/or HDMI socket.

Since you have an 8" screen, that's the reason why it's not available on your car.

It is possible to retrofit a factory 10.25" screen (has been done on several XJ's) but a dealer won't be able to help you with that.

It's actually a much simpler conversion on the F-Type compared to the XJ. But you will need someone outside of the dealer network with a Pathfinder tool to make the programming.

So I am correct to assume that even with the high media input panel (with SIM slot and HDMI connection), if you have the 8" InControl Touch Plus (not Pro) screen the upgrade does not work? You need to have both 10.25" screen AND the high media panel to make it work?

I have the 8" screen (MY18) and the update, and both Carplay and Android Auto appear on my connectivity menu. When I selected Android Auto it told me to plug in a device, so I assume it would work if I could be bothered.

Interesting. Yours is the first MY18 with the 8" screen I've read about that support it. Well I hope that's the case with mine.

And it's an early MY18, build date of 25 March 2017.

Do you have any info on retrofitting the 10"screen onto an f-type? I have a 2017 f-type SVR and would love the 10" screen.

I'm thinking about buying their solution for a MY 2017 car that is evidently not upgradable. Has anyone purchased their solution to add Android Auto?

I believe it would be this one: https://unique-ad.co.uk/product/wire...ype-2015-2018/

Looking for someone who has actually purchased and installed the unit.8.3.0

I had my unit for a few months now it’s really good.
I decided to install it after watching this video..
If you have the Harmon Kardon unit then barring a tricky to remove plug it’s a quick and easy installation.
Wireless CarPlay works perfectly.
The original Jag screen is still accessible and you have to use this for the rear camera.
However it is possible to get this to work with the UAD unit if you are familiar with the electrical system.
Pretty easy just to press a button for the camera though.
I highly recommend the product.

Hi, SCM -

I'm in a similar boat with an early MY2018 (04/2017) and the 8" screen. I was told by my dealer that the Android Auto/Carplay wouldn't work with my configuration.

Do you mind if I ask what interfaces you have in your armrest? Does it look like this?

If so, I may have to try another dealer.

Thanks.

Yeah, my armrest looks the same as yours. However, since posting the above, it seems that Jaguar went a bit wild and updated too many cars. There seems to be a software update for mine that will remove the reference to AA and ACP as they're not compatible after all. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ....

Yes, mine was the same way. A software update introduced the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto icons on the screens, but it will not connect to the phone no matter what I do.

FWIW, on our F-Pace (with 10" screen), as CarPlay was rolling out, one of the ICTP software updates introduced the CarPlay/Android icons; however, they would not function until the SmartPhone Pack was separately installed. At the time, dealers were charging for the SmartPhone Pack, but it later was free from JLR.

Default Alternatives to UAD (Unique Auto Developments) interface

Hi all,
I have a 17 F Type SVR and want to add CarPlay. I know the UAD interface works but wonder whether anyone has had experience with either of the following. Thanks!
