Just pulled the trigger on the UAD, I am a little anxious as I have a convertible and will need to disassemble the dashboard/screen for the installation. For those who have done this, where did you get the necessary tools to remove the facia without damage, and did you have to replace any clips in the process?
Any cheap plastic trim removal too will do. There are no fragile trim clips to break in the centre console so just watch one of the multiple install videos. I found removing the trim around the gear shifter first which then enables you to loosen and slide forward the air conditioning module then allows you ease out the bottom of the centre screen the easiest way. The top panel is as described in all the install videos. The trim around the gear shifter will pop up when prying from the 6 0’clock position easily once you insert the trim tool into the correct depth maybe 2mm. If you insert it deeper it then catches on another part further in andwill not budge

I just bought the UAD - they included the removal tool in the box.
I just installed the unit and noticed the back up camera doesnt work? I do have 8 jumpered "on" and the instructions call for putting power to the orange cable? Where do you get the power from?
UAD is telling me to connect additional wires and connect a black wire to sufficient ground. Has anyone else had to do the same? If so where do you locate a suitable ground in the dashboard?
If anyone else has this issue....I plugged back in the factory unit/bypassing the UAD and tried again. Problem continued, therefore I re-installed UAD, buttoned up the car and pulled the negative battery cable off for one minute. Once the system was reset the backup camera was functional once again.
I have a coupe 2018 w/ Harman but when I opened the cubby, it wasn’t roomy like in the video . I had to take the entire back off. But now the head unit connectors don’t match the ones supplied .any help is appreciated .
Probably only need to post on one thread.
I assume you checked with UAD with your vin so you get the correct version .
Assuming you have the correct version it really is just plug and play .The plugs are all different shapes so other than the getting the coloured FAKRA plugs wrong the wrong way around it is almost impossible to wire incorrectly. makes sure you understand how to unlocked the FAKRAS properly and not use brute strength. If you have the wrong version/harness for you car that might explain your difficulties
I presume the top picture is what fits with the harness you have got which is the pre-2017 Bosch unit. You have ordered or they have given you the wrong one obviously.
I discovered that I have a IMC based unit. Its the unit that should have come with 10inch display but instead came with 8inch. It’s in the post on here called
Which car system do I have (Harman or Bosch)?, F-Type from 2017
So from your post…..X-Dave’s post #6 is interesting and tells you how to get CarPlay but boy that’s a mission! https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...2017-a-246306/
JLR playing musical head units, if you will forgive the pun.
