Default This can't be normal

About a week ago, I noticed every time I get out of the car, the Suede on the seat slips out of the back silver hole thing on the back of the seat (Hahaha, sorry for chopping up the name of whatever this is normally called). I can pull it out on the passenger seat as well. It almost feels like the seat is unfinished, aren't they supposed to be sewed in, so it doesn't untuck. Pics attached. Please let me know if this is normal or I'm the lucky one!

I can just pull them right out.

Shouldn't this be attached to something, I have put tuck them back in every time I get out of the car now.

That doesn't look right and you would think it should not happen on a near new car.
My seats are completely different so I can't reproduce your problem, but I reckon it should be easy to fix.
Pull the fabric out a bit more, apply a dab of suitable glue on the backing under the "jaguar" lettering then reposition the fabric and hold it tight for a while until the glue takes.
Problem is I'm not sure what is the correct or best glue to use and you would have to be very careful not to get any glue on the metal or the outside of the fabric where it would be visible.
Maybe best left for the dealer to fix under warranty.

One can just barely see the line where the material met the edge of that grommet. It looks like a substantial amount of material used to be tucked up under the edge. It is possible (with the added friction of suede) that the entire seat back cover has been pulled down. with the palm of your hands, try working the entire seat back cover back up again before tucking the material back in. Then it would be a matter of not using the seat back to slow your decline into the seat.

Easier said than done Lance!
Especially for those of us of a more advanced age and "cuddly" shape, even without lowering springs.
Anyway, I wonder how the central metal bit is fixed in place and whether it can be removed and then replaced easily?
Maybe it is held in with four or so simple clips and just pulls straight out?
If so then pull it out, restretch the fabric, apply some glue, retuck the fabric and then replace the metal bit.

This is a defect that should be fixed by the dealership.

I strongly suggest NOT to fiddle-about on your own with glue or stuff !

I would go to a car upholstry specialist, ask him why this happens and if he can fix it.
Then go to the dealer and show it to him/her and ask them to resolve it. Also send these pictures by email to 'time-stamp' the reporting.
Inform them with the opinion of the specialist.

Ask the dealer when they can return with an answer. I guess 7 days should be enough.

At this point, this isn't your problem, so don't try to solve it on your own. Insist on a new seat from JLR under warranty.

Definitely let the dealer deal with it.

This is another fine example of Jag fit & finish.

The carpet on the passenger side in mine, by the trans tunnel was cut too short and left a gap. I still hate to see the gaps on my hood. Dealer can't seem to get it right either.....

How much did you say that car cost, and when did you take delivery?

i would be having a fit at the dealers if this happened to me. Tell them to fix it even if it means re-upholstering the seat.

I have the same exact issue on mine, dealer told me its very common. HOW IS SOMETHING LIKE THAT A COMMON ISSUE!? It really makes no sense that a luxury marque like Jaguar would have such abysmal fit and finish. As Ive said before, designed by gods, put together in a factory by chimps....

...but I still really like the damn car.

In the old days someone at Road & Track would regularly refer to “that fabled English craftsmanship”.

I think the Germans have taken over that mantle nowadays - but still living on past reputations.

I had an encounter with "German Quality" when I bought two NEW frames for Recaro seats I got of flea-bay.. For two bags of flimsy metal and bolts it was € 475,- [ 2 seats] "custom made for the Ford Fiesta"..
So I had the garage fit it as I'm not to keen on car electronics [ standard car had side airbags, recaro seats didn't ]. Garage could not get it right.. They contacted the suppplier and I went with the car back to them.
They said, yes all is fitted correctly. But the bleeding "airbag" light stayed on.. To make a long story short, they supplied VW sims as they were 'more economical' , while they KNEW it was 4Ohms and the ford
needed 2000Ohm to work !!! Really unbelievable idiots.. So I made these "sims" [ simulator, they emulate the electrical resistance of the airbag, so the ligt comes of and the rest works like normal] myself...

I've never been so angry before with a supplier.

Personnally I would not use glue. Did that on my MBenz before and the glue bleeds thru. There's a nice guy on here from Canada named Paul Champagne whom did upholstering on high end cars. He would know much better. I think he still does it or could inform you what to do. Send him a pm and ask.

Sorry to hear that. I am also disappointed after taking delivery... my left door is rattling, I brought it back, they acknowledged the problem, and fixed 50% of the noise... I have to bring it back again as it still rattles. But hey, the car is an absolute riot to drive!

My passenger side carpet was also too short by the trans tunnel. Dealer said he replaces a lot of those. Mine goes in next week for the hopefully longer carpet.
