Default Center Grille Bar Replacement

On my newly purchased 2017 Coupe, the previous owner lived in a state that required a front license plate. SO now I'm stuck with 4 holes in the center bar. I have already ordered a new bar as it shows it as a separate item from the grille. Does anyone have any experience removing just this bar? Does the whole front end have to come off or can you get it from underneath the car after removing the bottom panels? I've seen the write ups for removing the grille to replace it with the P7 grille. Not going that route at this time.

Discussed elsewhere but I am 99% sure the grille has to come off to change the bar and the only way to remove the grille is to remove the front bumper.
So yes "the whole front end" has to come off which apparently (I have never done it) is not that difficult.

Hi...Yes, the bumper cover will need to be removed to get to it. If you have parking sensors, you get to them from behind as well...Lots of fasteners, etc., But honestly about a 20-30 minute task.

Here is the process for removal/install (All variants - front and rear). Hope it helps. LINK HERE

A photo of the underside for reference also...

Thanks for the picture and link. It will surely help. I'm sure I'll stretch this out for more than 20-30 minutes. The car is put up for the winter. Got to find something to do over the next 5-6 months!

Do what I did...Winter project Bought a Raptor...Added Water Methanol Injection, Bigger Intercooler, Cobb Custom Tune, Transmission Tune....and more. Going to add an intake, and exhaust next before it gets tooo cold Got it to about ~600 BHP. It's a beast. Good (matching) companion to the F-Type.

Take care,
DC

If you decide to tackle this project to remove and replace the center bar, drop me a PM. I purchased a new center bar direct from Jag in the UK before I learned about removing the whole bumper assembly. Since I need to run a front plate, I've decided that it isn't a priority. I'll make you a great deal on the center bar piece and it is brand new and unmolested.

FYI Rondog...You do not need to remove the headlight washers unless you are servicing them...Just disconnect the hose and leave them in place.

I have a 2017 convertible BDE. It came from Massachusetts with front plate holder attached. I removed the holder and simply plugged the holes.

Looks fine to my eyes. Sure, I would prefer a cleaner look I guess, but to me it's fine.
