Default Centre climate vent squeaking and sticking when it's hot.

Hi - I did a search and could not find the answer.

I have a 2015 F-Type since new. This year I have experienced the centre climate vent stick and squeak when opening - but only when its hot. I am worried that the sticking will damage the mechanism and or the motor that runs it. This only opens when it's hot out and I assume it's due to expansion.

Anyone else experienced it? Any suggestions for a solution? I have thinking of using silicone lubricant.....

I have had exactly the same experience with my MY15 (just after I bought it one years old). When it was hot and humid it would move up (but not as "smooth" as normal), but not down again (had to be pushed down). Clearly too thight fit.

They fixed it under waranty (I think they replaced the unit), and it has worked perfect since then.

I had some very small ripples in the center of mine where the material looked to be separating from the cover, had it replaced under warranty also - works great but it is a relatively tight fit so there is still a slight noise when it deploys.

It is likely the bearing surfaces of the plastic bearings in the lift/lower mechanism have become tight. I repaired mine by removing it, opening up the bearing surfaces and applying grease. I used the attached document (not mine, found on another site) as a reference. It is helpful, although leaves out details that would have been helpful for working out the disassembly part. Hmmm, can't get the attachment to load. Working on it...

My center vent was replaced under TSB K243 in 2015. Has worked perfectly ever since.

Thanks! That's awesome. I have been out of warranty for some time. I will have this taken care of.
