Default Changing (base) MY2016 sport seats to MY 2019 performance seats

I am able to get my hands on a pair of MY 2019 Performance seats, and would like to hear from others on the platform which technical challenges I should expect when I swap/upgrade my MY 2016 sport seats to MY 2019 performance seats.

I am aware to the following:
My present base seats are 6-way electrically adjustable and the Performance seats are 12-way electrically adjustable, so I will need to replace the side panel in the door with the panel that has the additional buttons for the 12- way control. However, I am in doubt if the required wiring for this operation is present in my car and I wonder if coding is necessary before everything works.

Further, does anyone know if the attachment points (bolt holes) for the MY 2016 seats match the lighter and slimmer MY 2019 seats?

Same concern for the electrical connectors, does anyone know if these were changed when JLR changed to the lighter and slimmer seats.

Would be great to have your input on this so I dont end up with new seats that wont fit/work.

I put the new performance seats into my MY 2014 convertible.
They fit, but you cannot programm the new seats (programming the new models need Pathfinder and no longer SDD).
The new seats work in "inch-mode".
I had to use the old seat modules, the new seats have different connectors so I had to cut the connectors from the new seats and make the connection to the old modules.
Now they work fine, also the memory.
Not an easy job but possible.

Im interested in this also.
Did you change the seats for the looks or because making more room.
Im thinking of buying an early F type, but im tall.
So want to swap 2018 seats in 2015 F type.
I swapped seats in my other cars so know what to expect.
Do you have some more photo's of the swap?

Hello,

I did the swap because I am 1,88 meter long and to tall for the old seats.
The new ones are mucht thinner and also have 8 kg less weight.
I get them with the velour but the quality of the velour was not what I expected so I changed the upholstery later.
The airbag is no problem and the mechanical fitting is ok.
Just you need the old seat modules an the problem is that they have totally different connections.
I had to cut of the cables from the connectors in the 2018 seats und connected them to old type connectors.
Here are some pictures.

Regards,

Johan

Hi Johan,

Thank you veru much for your reply.
Leaves me 1 question.
Sometimes passagerseats have a sensor in the seat.
If there is a passenger the airbags are enabled.
Is there one in the passenger seat, ifso needs it calibrating?
