From the Repair Manual, quote:
"The EVAP canister is located in a central position, on top the fuel tank."
Looks to me like the only way to access it is to drop the fuel tank.

P. 4790 of the Workshop Manual shows that the canister can be accessed through the bulkhead behind the seats, without dropping the tank…

Thank you for your quick response! I tried to access through the bulkhead behind the seats and I was able to replace from there easily.

Those are awesome pictures. At some point, I need to replace my fuel level sender, and this makes it clear how access works. Thanks!

Just to throw this out there because I am not sure how many people know this or not (and certainly not assuming this was what was wrong with yours), but "topping off" the fuel tank after it has naturally clicked off because of being full, you know..to get to that next equal dollar amount, is often a cause of EVAP canister problems.

I had to remove the roll hoops and speaker covers to access the canister. After I replaced the canister, I put them them back.

How solid were the hoops and do you think they could hold the car up after a crash?

Lots of fake news in that thread: Notaby, the photoshopped convertible windshield frame that is crushed and in the next photo it’s straight etc.. Corvette soft tops were all supposedly made with thicker wind frames for rollover protection. The C8 hardtop convertible seems to use the same technology.

You can find Corvettes that are flattened after a rollover over on the CorvetteForum racing subforum. It's always a non-zero risk when rolling something without a cage combined with high energy roll-over.

I expect a rollover in my Corvette to be fatal or life altering without one of the many available roll bars or partial cages. Even with one it will be marginal due to the speeds.

This is absolutely true.

The vapor canister is to absorb fuel vapors that are emitted from the fuel tank. It is not meant to take on actual liquid fuel. Liquid fuel will quickly over saturate the carbon in the canister and will render it wasted and unable to absorb vapors.

I'll show a pic of another car (in this case, happens to be my Aston DB11), but the same system, same type of layout. This is a view of the filler neck. The small pipe with the arrow goes to the canister. Vapors will travel through this tube with a completely sealed fuel system. You can see, that if you keep topping off the tank after the first click, eventually liquid fuel will fill the neck and the small vent tube will actually be "under water" so to speak. Now, all that liquid fuel in the neck will end up in the canister.

Many cars today will have a warning sticker on the fuel lid. On my AMG GTS, for example, the warning to not top off. Many say stop at the first click.

On my Aston:

This is great information BUT, for some reason, at certain gas stations (Costco for example), the gas always cuts off too soon but only in the F Type requiring a refilling that may overfill sometimes. Having read this thread, I will just get the shortage from Costco and get the rest at Chevron.

Boy are you F-Type guys lucky!!
On my XJ that stuff is above the read diff/sub-frame and is a royal pain to get to for anything! You can hardly even see the assembly with the car on a lift!
