Check Engine Light, O2 sensor (2016 R, stock)
So last weekend I turn on my car and notice the CEL illuminated. I bring it to the dealership and apparently there was a software update that was just released, had to do with O2 sensors. Took about 30 min and I was back on the road.
It begs the question on whether they've been able to find some code from Volkswagen. Nahhh our emissions are just fine :-)
Don't assume it's emissions related, there was no explanation given WHY this action is being taken.
It could also be related to engine performance, or perhaps a safety aspect (i mean safety of the engine).
If it was emissions I would expect that ALL engines would be affected, not just the 5.0L
The Service Action is # K309, it only listed the 5.0L cars with Bosch ECU's but a little bird told me that the earlier cars with Denso ECU also got revised files in the most recent diagnostic updates. Perhaps an additional announcement is to follow?

Some first hand experience from one of the XF guys in this thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-codes-151992/
For information, my V6 went in today for warranty work on my awful speakers, and I was told it needed the O2 update aswell, so looks like it's not just V8 models.

Yeah sorry, I should have double checked it. It's all 3.0L and 5.0L models with Bosch ECU, here is a copy of the document.

I got the information from my dealer when I phoned regarding another question - and used the opertunity to ask if there were any service actions on my car.
As long as it is nothing that needs to be done ASAP, they will not notice you - and just perform the task when the car is in for next service.
So... I am brand new to the Jaguar world (as in 1 week and 1 day to be exact). Excellent thready guys -- Thanks.
My 2014 F-type is in the vin range for the K309 service action, and yes, the CEL came on yesterday, it's the P0062 Heated Oxygen Sensor.
I have a service appointment already for next weekend. I guess I will just park the car for the week -- that sucks.

It's been two weeks since I purchased my R and it went in on Friday for O2 sensors and a vibration caused by the radio. O2 sensors replaced with a reflash, along with foam and radio flash.
I hope this is the last time I visit a dealer for awhile.

When you got it back, was the exhaust note the same?
So, it indeed was a bad O2 sensor (Bank 2 Sensor 3 if you are interested). The tech was awesome, he looked at my OBD read and had me out of there in 20 minutes. All it cost me was a handshake. Love Jaguar
I had two O2 sensors replaced, but I believe the K309 reflash is intended to address this.
If you look at the O2 sensor TSB, my memory is that it applies to a number of Jag models over a number of years, so perhaps K309 finally addresses whatever the issue is.

Yesterday my CEL came on and I hooked up my Automatic dongle, which read out the error code.
P013E: O2 Sensor Delayed Response - Rich to Lean Bank 1 Sensor 2
Looks like there's a bulletin out, but no longer have a topix membership to read it:
Title: SSM72477 - 15MY Or 16MY Jaguar O2 Sensor Fault (3.0L V6 SC or 5.0L V8 SC)
Bulletins Special Service Messages Engine
Publication date: 29-Oct-2015 14:19:20
Could this be a follow on to the K309 mentioned in this thread? In K309 the VIN range was K00001 - K29970 so it didn't cover mine.
My dealers earliest appointment is a whole week out, ridiculous really.

Apparently, Jag has had O2 sensor issues forever. I had two replaced, and I think the bulletin at that time covered most Jag models. I believe there was a newer bulletin they did on my car, something related to O2 sensor calibration, presumably to address the CEL. I haven't had an issue in a couple of years.
