City Mode AFS

City Mode AFS
My 2019 with LED head lights does not seem to change light pattern when below 30mph... The manual says AFS should cause it to go into city mode where the dark cliff on the left side of the light pattern fills in... Anyone else have this issue... or lights that visibly change below 30mph in auto mode ? Thanks,

I thought about this too. I rarely drive in such dark places that I'd really notice the difference of the light pattern but wanted to test it once and couldn't see any difference.
My understanding was that AFS always comes with the LEDs. At least the German MY18 (my car is German spec) brochures indicate that. There's no AFS option and the AFS features are described in the description of the LED lights.

Well if that is activating a different lamp or mechanically moving the light then that is an available US option on many cars. I was referring to "smart"/adaptive LED lighting.

They probably are just cornering lights and I definitely have them on mine. They only come on at lower speeds and I've grown to really like them. Nothing that innovate. My dad had a '68 Cadillac that had them.

Reading through available documentation, a few of questions (as in: "is your computer plugged in?") come to mind:
- Is the lighting control in "Auto" mode?
- Is Auto High Beam Assist (AHBA) on?
- Is your car set for Left Hand Drive (i.e. Right Hand Traffic)?
- Do you have the latest software?
Despite what the F-Type manual, iGuide and other Jaguar documentation might say, having spent (far too much) time in IT, I know the relationship between programmers and tech writers (i.e. the people who write the documentation) is a Mars/Venus kind of thing. Like a car, programmers deal in a dynamic world (with Do-While's, Do-Until's, and If-Then-Else's). But TW live in a static world. As such, they doomed to have to interpret programming (and vehicle) activity so that it can be put into a book. And sometimes they might even get it right.
So, might I suggest you play with the settings on your car?
Enjoy...

Ah yes.....it got tucked into the massive Infrastructure Bill in November, which sped up the NHTSA approval 18 months sooner than it was going to be approved.
