Default Cosmetic Mods

I've had my F-Type for just over three years and still love the car, but am thinking about making little tweaks to change the look a little. I've got my 'JAGUAR' spoiler graphic, have thought about blacking out trim, mild window tint, and looked into some aftermarket wheels. What have others done to their cars to make it 'yours'? Any cool body kits?

My most recent idea is looking at the headlights and I think a mild smoke tint on the top half could look neat, and I've always had a thing for yellow headlights. I posted this online elsewhere and got totally flamed, so I am prepared for that as well.

- if you want tint, tint the whole thing, this looks weird IMO
- no.1 mod for me is Project 7 grille, transforms the car really

I think yellow tint on the whole thing looks weird, but I agree I am not really sold on this approach either. I do think there is something cool about it, but it seems like I am the only one haha

Hi, I am very fond of a cosmetic mod especially if it is reversible.

I ended up with 21 inch vorsteiner VFF 103's in gunmetal on mine which I absolutely love, they are beautiful wheels and super easy to clean, so light the handling of the car is massively improved, and the ride is much better as well on michelin rubber.

I also debadged the rear, repositioned the leaper, and sprayed it black (thread on the site going into all of that) so that the only thing on the back now is the leaper.

I put black wrap on the A through to C pillars which (with the pano roof) makes the car's greenhouse essentially all black and flattens it out, I think it makes the car overall look flatter and a wider which I like. I also had the skirts and chin spoiler done in black wrap as they were a bit chunky for my liking in the sports design kit.

More of a major thing, I had the twin centre exhausts replaced by a quad VAP exhaust, which is a bit of a production as the OEM parts for the rear lower bumper cost a packet. But I really preferred the look of quads, and the aftermarket exhaust is insane.

Final cosmetic was to put sequential LED indicator lights in, that is a cheap thing. I actually saw them working in a reflection once!

Ah yes I have seen the blacked out pillars before, it looks sharp!

My car doesn't have the sports package so I've been poking around trying to find good options for side skirts and rear diffuser. I am wary of putting a splitter up front because speed bumps in Chicago already cause me trouble...

Any clearance issues with these larger wheels?

On my '16 I painted the black lower splitter to match the Salsa Red body then wrapped it in PPF to keept the gravel dings minimized, and wrapped the chrome ring around the grill in gloss black. Also swapped the stock hood vents with the newer R type vents. Also on the interior, couldn't stand the "aluminum" looking center panel so I wrapped it in Vivvid black brushed metal, and wrapped the surround of the shifter/button panel in gloss black.
I just installed a Memphis Audio 10" powered subwoofer behind the passenger seat, which really made the bass fill out well on music .

Graybeard, I don’t recall seeing a leaper on the Start button - I assume that’s aftermarket?

Cheers, none at all. I think I could even fit 315 in the rear wells if they came in that size (I have 305's), and the fronts which are 265's from memory fill the well nicely. If you are meaning height wise, no because the overall wheel and tyre height is about the same, though I put 40 sidewalls on the rear last change instead of 30 when there we had supply shortages due to COVID, anyway the extra rear wheel height then I think has meant the front of my car is lower and I've noticed the chin guard scrapes more often.

I've slowly been adding carbon fiber overlays in the interior. At first just for looks now also to cover some wear areas. Out side I did mirrors and front splitter. Just did dark tail lights but I'm not sure I like them with my Stratus Grey.

How much passenger legrrom did that take? How far back are you able to move the seat?

I feel you on this one. I like the old rally yellow headlight look. I think it would need to be all or nothing, but I see what you are doing wiht the hood line.

Definitely, gives 24h Le Mans vibes also, which I think is cool for a GT car like the F-type

Are there any problems modifying front head lights like that? Could it lead to a driving infraction of some kind?

Pretty much all the way back, since the incline of the seat top touches the back panel and leaves a few inch gap heading to the floor

I just finished wrapping my center console in Vivvid black brushed steel wrap. I could not stand the OEM "stamped metal" texture and tone

Probably the most expensive (and coolest imho!) cosmetic mod you can do is a PPF or vinyl wrap that will change the appearance of your F-Type. I had Xpel Stealth PPF installed on my F-Type after purchase to minimize damage to the paint and give it a matte-like satin finish. My F-Type is now nicknamed THE BATMOBILE, lol. It cost me $7300 USD for the PPF install, window & headlight tint and ceramic coat.

I did the same, front to back. Mine is a traditional regular gloss PPF that is cared for conventionally. Any special requirements for caring for this matte PPF? Just curious.

Does look good though.
