Current Pricing and Concerns
Examining the similarities between cars and women [for men] is simply too tempting to pass up [and I apologize to any women who might be offended, but to have any kind of interesting conversation ALWAYS risks such]. Besides, the couple of women who actively contribute to this group seem pretty cool. And after all, for car guys, what else competes for his attention more than women [and cars]...as the apprehension of wealth and status is primarily to this end, no?
I see the relationship with a car [such as ours] as being quite similar to one with a woman. Since men are VERY visual, the attraction to the physical shape of each is critical, and I don't believe anybody here will dispute that the F-Type is a gorgeous car. I could go on and on with the analogy, but I believe we all get it. The point of this post is to draw a parallel between the experience at the car dealership and that with a woman.
I don't know about you [I research the hell out of everything], but I have never left a car dealership [after the deal is done] without wondering how I got screwed [despite the fact that I felt I did all my homework and tried to uncover all the landmines buried along the entire path of car procurement]. Kind of the same way you feel when the woman you wined and dined for months eventually came up with a better offer and cast you off into the great beyond.
Women and car dealers understand better than anybody how to manipulate men. As we stand in amazement watching women buy/consume every damn thing [in their never ending attempts to be happy], men, in their own way, succumb to the desire to obtain the beautiful as a symbol of status and achievement. And although there is certainly nothing wrong with having such a prize in one's garage [or home], be aware of the price to be paid and especially how the most cunning of predators size up the male members of our herd to prey upon.

Please don't package all of us "women... understand better than anybody how to manipulate men, as we stand in amazement watching women buy/consume every damn thing.." in that same "high maintenance" category. Some of us step up to household repairs (replacing appliances, installing light fixtures, painting, landscaping) as well as maintaining the household fleet. No more than women should categorize ALL men as beer-bellied couch potatoes, who can't remember how to run a vacuum, dishwasher, clothes washer, shop for and prepare meals, or where the towel racks and clothes hampers are.. all training everyone needs to successfully run and be a member of a household.
How long does it take a young wife to figure out that she can use sex to manipulate her new husband...three, maybe four nano-seconds? Now, are there women who do not this?...I guess, but it's hard to imagine that any woman could pass up such an opportunity. Another example...
Although there are still highly ethical professional and managerial folks out there, the precipitous decline we have witnessed in the West over the past decades has been practically defined by a wholesale sell-out of these very people.
Just to be difficult, I would guess the number of women interested in shopping and dining out far outweighs the number of guys who are couch potatoes with beer-bellies [especially since we are talking about a group of people who are fairly successful].
Currently looking to join the ranks of Ftype Owners. Looking at a 2016 R Coupe with 18K miles. Dealer wants a bit above KBB fair Market value (KBB is saying 43-47K). is this common with these cars? Anything I should specifically check. It still ahs the original Coolant Y Pipe and they did replace the center AC/heat Vents as those were inoperable. Little bit of oxidation on the wheels and the interior seat bolts are cracking a bit. But it is a 2016 so I wouldn't expect the interior to be perfect. Any advice from current owners is much appreciated. 3 previous owners and no accident damage on Carfax. The selling dealership has been doing the service on the car for the last few years.
I've been tracking my car, and that has exposed no further weak points. I know you have walked away from this particular deal, but wanted to provide some context on the overall ownership experience.
Some of the new 2024/23 F-Types I've been watching for the past few months looks to have finally been sold. With the warmer weather it seems the supply of new F-Types is finally drying up. Get one while you can I guess, lol.
These are cars that essentially did not change in a ten+ year run, so there are only so many times you can talk about the same damn thing. Plus, aren't people supposed to search for answers before asking a question that has been asked/answered twenty times?
Not only that, but I kind of like to delve an angstrom unit or two beneath the surface of things and tie in other parts of life to the car talk. It makes participation a great deal more interesting on a list that is hanging on for dear life. Whereas it is reassuring that our cars are quite reliable and the issues few, you can only beat a dead horse so much. When a new method to improve after-care or part becomes available, that's of great interest, but this happens once in a blue moon.
Lastly, I am perhaps one of the least knowledgeable people here concerning our cars and greatly appreciate the contributions that others have made, but there is more to life than just the car. I used to participate in the PCA [Porsche] local chapter and we would get together and have a few beers and such once in a while, but rarely did we chat about the cars. To me, the love of our cars provides a method to get to know each other better through chatting about life.
It's hard to believe that social life has gotten so constrained that bringing up the topic of women on a car list 99% dominated by men is now considered taboo. I think it's time for guys to trade in their political correctness for a pair of *********. Women are great, don't get me wrong, but they are not great all the time [and certainly not to us].
I believe the interest in F-Type conversation hit a wall a couple of years ago. Same stuff over and over and over...

The original post is about pricing concerns and you think it an appropriate place to lay out your misogyny? And then you think the problem is that others are too politically correct? Maybe just stop saying dumb **** about women and talk about cars? or if the topic isn't interesting enough for you, you could just not reply at all. Try it out.
Synthesis: What He Said! PLUS, I would suggest you review ALL of your posts in the recent past (at least 2 months). Your unbridled cynicism concerning just about everything discussed is a consistant downer. Meaning this in the kindest way, the "Porsche Owner Syndrome" that unfortunately is dominant among the bretheren;
is blatently showing in your commentaries. BTW, I also own a Porsche so I'm well aware of the difference between a Porshe owner (current or past) and a porcupine.
Stop being one, Just sayin'..........

Thank you For the info. It does seem prices are on the rise
IMO, you can't think of Jaguar's AWD like Audi's AWD or other manufacturer's AWD. It's a RWD car that can happen to add some power to the front wheels if you are already losing the rear. It's nowhere near the same AWD experience I had on my Audi S5. On my AWD SVR, I have had the tail end come out completely and it was the traction control that kicked in first, not the AWD.
The biggest flaw with the RWD cars was the horrible OEM tires. The car got a bad reputation because of the stock P-Zeros. Once changed out to nearly any other tire, the car is a lot easier to handle. Knowing what I know now, If the SVR didn't exist, I would have gone for a V8S when I decided to change up to a convertible.

I don't have a great sense of where pricing currently stands, but I got my 2016 R with 32K miles for ~40K during the pandemic. 1 year+ on CPO warranty, 5 previous owners (but 3-4 of them being shuffling between dealers). I managed to pop the coolant pipe under warranty, but that is partially on me, knowing about the issue and deciding to drive aggressively before the car warmed up (I was able to smell coolant at the next stoplight after caning a cold car, no damage in my case but I did observe coolant loss, and persistent coolant smells after that romp). Coolant problem is worthy of attention, but is probably more of an issue for people in colder climates (I am in NOLA), unless you are a knob who drives aggressively before the fluids are up to temp (like me). If you are in a high temp climate, definitely get a windshield shade. I currently have the sagging headliner issue, and my father with a 2018 had the same. His was fixed under warranty, mine will be a 2K repair (w/ sun shade replacement).
I've been tracking my car, and that has exposed no further weak points. I know you have walked away from this particular deal, but wanted to provide some context on the overall ownership experience.
