Dead Battery, Emergency blade wont open the car
This morning woke up to find the car completely dead. Haven't driven for just over a week and forgot to leave it on trickle charge. Anyway, obviously the fob doesn't work and I set about attempting to open the drivers door with the emergency blade. Initially tricky to get the key all the way in - goes in much further than I expected, but with a little persuasion some WD40 I got it fully inserted, still wont open the door. Have followed the manual instructions but understand from a few videos that these aren't always accurate so i have tried all of the following
- Key both ways up
- turning as far as I can both clockwise and anti-clockwise
- pulling the door handle fully out and turning the key
- turning the key, removing the key and pulling the handle
- simultaneously turning the key and pulling the handle
Am now at a bit of a loss, is there anything simple I'm missing - or even something more complicated.
appreciate any advice. Car is a 2015 R
Just keep trying, it can be a tricky **** to get that key to work.
What works for me is to pull the handle out, insert the key really really hard, then while still holding the handle out twist the key quite hard.
Can't remember which way to twist though!

So I gave this a good go - no joy. Every combination of orientation clockwise/anticlockwise and door handle pulling etc. Cant believe I have to callout a garage or li=locksmith to open a car i have the bloody keys for

I have to ask, are you the original owner? I have seen more than once where dealers mix up keys and simply reprogram the fob without addressing the blades.
My experience: The emergency key needs to be inserted farther than you would think!
Protect the bodywork with some painters tape, apply some Graphite Lubricant onto the key blade, and shove it in!

With the 'handle' of the emergency key fully inserted, it will rub on the paintwork when you twist it..
If you need I can take picture with the key 'fully inserted'.
