Default Decisions decisions

Went from my XKR conv to 2016 F type S AWD. The warranty is over, and time for a new car. All I do these days is drive other cars to test. I like the new 2022, and 2023 models, they look great, just nervous about the service reports as there is not much information yet, and I am concerned that Jag is just thinking about making electric cars, and could possibly shut this model down as next year there will be no more p450, etc, just the R. I know when I bought 2016 new there were a lot of issues, gas tanks, batteries, remote start, coolant leaks, I could go on. Is anyone experiencing anything with 2022, and 2023 models? Are they worth the money?

Has anyone else had this dilemma, they love the F type but there are a lot of options out there. A loaded F type is about $124k these days. Has anyone moved to another car without spending 150k that compares?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Try an MG MIdget maybe ? Lots of fun with little expenditure, but your wheel spin to wheel lock fun isn't in it.
(only joking !)
The German makers are unlikely to be going all-electric like Jaguar, so have a look there.

Pretty hard to beat the F Type for exclusivity, looks and sound at that price point. I couldnt get tempted out of mine except for a dbs superleggera - at the F Type price.

Find a good independent you can trust and keep the F-Type out of warranty - it doesn't have to be a money pit (mine isn't!).

Did you get an aftermarket warranty? I was thinking about that!

i did, to be honest the cost of the repairs I had paid for under the aftermarket warranty were less than the cost of the warranty! but mine is pretty low km

if you are happy and content w/ the 2016, why change unless you truly are just wanting something new? Financially, you are better off keeping it as the amount of $ you lose on new car depreciation more than makes up for any unseen repairs, including a total engine swap. If finance is no issue, then get whatever new car you want as you'll covered by warranty. I personally would love a manual Emira!

Agreed (except I'm not sure about the Emira yet). There is nothing that much more advanced in the 2022 that there is in a well specced 2016 to make it worth a (for me) $100K changeover, and while I really like the looks of the new shape, I think the previous looks just as good.

But I think it might be that I am getting old, I got out of the 2008 XF which I loved and into a 2011 or 12 model just to get the LED lights!

I'm with the replies above that say to hang on to what you have. Nothing beats the beauty and fun of the F-Type at anything close to the price. Your MY16 is depreciated to the point that anything you'd replace it with would be a multiple in price & cost.

Of the issues you raised from the past, only coolant line leak is at all interesting (and if you've been through the repair, it's done). I had it on my MY17, under warranty, but the MY14 hasn't had the issue. Still, the cost would be less than the sales tax on a successor - let alone higher insurance, depreciation, and property tax (in NC, anyway).

I just came back from a road trip where the hotel Valets kept it one of the prime/visible spots. A 911 Turbo that came in after me went in the back.
