In depth interview busting many myths of the 2015 Jaguar F-Type Coupe

Nice marketing. The reality is that the F-Type competes more with the AM Vantage than the 911. For drive comfort and looks. The Vantage can demand a higher price point because of the 'brand perception'. Funnily enough AM tried to go the other direction with the Vantage GT in direct response to the F-type launch. An old/dated car (compared with the F-Type) with some new lipstick for $100k. This really put me off owning an AM again. When the RS comes out we can talk about Jag vs Porsche. Regarding Ferrari, Lamborghini etc, having owned a 99' F355 I can tell you it's a completely different experience. There is no relaxing in a Ferrari, far far less comfort. Serious hassle parking etc etc but yes it's going to be a bit quicker so it's really a weekend car whereas the F-Type and Porsche are far more comfortable daily drivers.

This is just speculation on my part, but I assumed that the reason that AM dropped the price of the Vantage was to try and sell as many cars as they could before this month. Unless AM gets an exemption from the NHTSA, they will no longer be able to sell Vantages and DB9s produced after Aug 31 because they don't meet current federal safety standards.
