Default Disabled Auto Start-Stop Today

The first thing I did on my new 2021 F Type R was remove the front license plate bracket. The second thing was to follow the excellent instructions on disabling the auto start-stop function as posted by a few very helpful members. That was extremely simple and works as described except on my car, the button on the console remains illuminated. If I press it, the light turns off and I can see an icon on the gauge cluster that shows the function is off but of course it is off now regardless of whether or not the button on the console is illuminated.

The third thing I did was program the Homelink button. Very simple, but one thing that I find is lame is that if the car is off, the Homelink button doesn't work. There may be times that I would like to open or close the garage door without the engine running or ignition on. Jaguar should have left the power to the mirror always on.

There might be some very good reasons they do not leave the power on. Besides the obvious battery drain over extended times, the car may be parked on your driveway someone can get in and then open your garage door. Personally, I have no problem that it’s turned off when parked.

I agree. My F-150 sits outside and I wish the Homelink power would shutoff when locked.

Good points. I hadn't thought of that, both of my vehicles are always garaged and I keep both the knob lock and deadbolt locked on the door between the garage and the house.
