Last night after few hot laps on the track I measured exhaust tips temperature - about 85C.

The high-temperature carbon tubing I linked to earlier claims 500F is not a problem. Higher temperatures can affect structural properties, but this is not structural.

A piece that is slightly small for the tip could be split lengthwise, expanded to go over, and held in place by the spring pressure. If the slit is on the bottom and the end cut slightly on an angle it might not even be noticeable.
