Default Does this bother anyone except me?

I have had the F for a year now. It still bugs me that the speedo and tac modules do not illuminate at all unless the headlights are on. They are set fairly deep and area little hard to see during dusk/dawn or even at times during daylight hours.

Anyone else have this feeling? I asked the dealer if I'm missing a setting or "roller bar" to illuminate and the answer was no.

Thoughts? Or maybe I'm just getting old

Honestly, I never look at the speedo dial - I look at the digital display. And I can see the tach well enough, though I generally don't pay too much attention to it. I've never noticed that they aren't illuminated, so I guess it isn't an issue for me.

A bigger issue is I got bifocals last year for the first time, and neither lens is ideal for reading the gauges. But yeah, you're getting old.

+1 Never noticed either, but I guess that answer's the OP's question.

I never look at the speedo as well... In fact, I think it is a bit of a waste to even have it on the car. The digital display is so much easier. I would have much preferred an all digital type display like the Lexus LFA.

Yes, I'm with you on this one. It was one of the first things I noticed in the first week of ownership. I spent days mucking around with settings, thinking "surely this must be controllable somewhere" before finally giving up on it.

Just leave it in dynamic mode and you will get red lighting

I guess I'm old school. I'd rather have all analog gauges and you can throw out the digital stuff. When I first tried a digital tach on the track close to 40 years ago it was worthless. When the rpm is digitally displayed you have to look straight at it and take time to comprehend what it says. With the analog you can monitor the needle through the corner of your eye and know when the engine is about to blow based on its relative position.(yes, this was before rev limiters) I monitor my speed the same way. I need at least those two analogs right in front of me.

I like a combination, but I definitely prefer to have my analog gauges backlit day and night

I can't comment on the lighting since I don't have the car yet, but it's probably moot for me since I always drive with the lights on anyway.

I find with a relatively small speedo dial that goes to 200MPH, I have to stare at it unless I only want to know to the nearest 10-20MPH. Maybe it takes practice. But a quick glance at the digital speedo is all that's needed.

I don't see the need with the J Blade DRL's (except, of course, to back-light your gauges! )

Having come from the era of old American muscle cars, this isn't an issue for me. I find the dials plenty visible and the digital readout a good supplement. When it gets too dark for me to see, I just turn on the lights if they haven't already illuminated automatically.
