Default Does the F-type have any nanny/monitoring modes

Does the F-type maintain any 'Black Box' archiving of historical data such as RPM, redline, modes?
I'd like to see if a friend's son who borrows my F-type adheres to the agreement by reviewing info from the ECU via the OBD port.

Is the recent history recorded so I can confirm?:
Redline not reached?
No full-throttle?
No checkered-flag mode used?
No Sport-shift / paddle shifting mode used?
No speeds over XXmph?

Or do I have to install some separate gadget to confirm these things?

Yeah, strict. But hey, tough. Don't want my kid to wreck himself, my car, his date, property, etc. etc. If he can't be responsible, he gets to drive the electric RAV4 only.

set it to valet mode then .... that 'll take the fun out of it ...

other option is simply to add a mini bluetooth obdc connector and a small tablet like a 7 inch or so in the glove compartment running with any automotive app such as torque to record it.

I believe the ECU will only "record/store" error codes but not actual data, it is only real time, you have to plug in and use something else to record.

I thought the valet mode in the (2015) F-type only locks the glovebox and hatch??...if it also limits the rpms, then that is a good solution.
Yep, I am either 'Brave' or 'Foolish' to loan the car out to anyone. Probably some of both.

My 2014 manual says valet mode locks the glovebox & trunk, and disables the touchscreen. Doesn't say anything about revs, speed, etc.

I know from my 911 days that Porsche's ECU records instances where the RPM exceeds redline (in six ranges, with the latter three being cause for probable warranty denial) but not really driving style or driving habits. With our cars having automatic transmissions, the redline thing is obviously not really a risk, you can't "over-rev" the car per se.

In your case I guess it all boils down to how much you trust the individual concerned. If this were me, I'd be inclined to tell the individual that the car *did* record such incidents on the basis he probably won't know any better

Default Hmmm...

If you don't trust the person you are loaning the car to, why again are you loaning them the car? Just say no.

A friend of mine had a custom built bike with similar concerns; he loaned it out and it got wrapped around a tree. Nearly killed the friend and definitely killed the friendship.

Thanks for the concern, but this isn't a post about what I should and shouldn't do -- though the risk is low Ideally, I just want to know if I would be able to confirm that responsible driving occurred.

I think you will find that that is not the case is you use dynamic mode and flappy paddles. The auto will not override the driver changes in this case and you can exceed the red line.

Maybe just get yourself one of these and secret it in a compartment, then set valet mode to lock the compartments (yes, that's all Valet mode does - I tried it a couple of weeks ago).

I recently got a Dropcam (for puppy monitoring). In theory you could put a Dropcam in your car. You just need a WiFi hot spot (dedicated or just use your phone/tablet as hot spot). And a USB power source (can buy one on Amazon).

Really? Learning something new. Never looked up the Valet mode. Valet mode locks trunk and glove box but no power reduction or RPM limiter, what nonsense that is.

I asked my sales person about it, and he mentioned there was some safety concern with that capability. He didn't expand on it..

Just a note on this topic, as mentioned the BlueTooth OBDII adapters can be used. You would need a BlueTooth enabled receiver, like a phone or tablet but that device doesn't need to be active with a cell phone carrier (i.e. it could be an out of service phone you stick in the vehicle somewhere since you just need the BlueTooth connection).

The rev limiter and fuel cut off will kick in. On a manual transmission Porsche you can seriously over-rev and cause significant engine damage with a missed shift, that's very different to bouncing off the rev limiter.
