Drivers Door Wont Open
Anyone have any ideas as to whats going on here? Started having a intermittent, but now much more frequent issue with my exterior drivers door handle (2016 base V6, 40k miles). Handle would be flush, tap the edge to unlock, handle comes out, but pulling it doesnt open the door. It just moves and the door stays shut. Its not every time but now happens maybe half the time. Have to crawl through the pass side and open it from the inside to get in. I'm thinking of lubricating the latch mechanism? Any other ideas. Thanks all.
If there is no resistance at all when you pull on the handle it might mean cable connecting the handle to the lock has somehow become disengaged. Not sure if the exterior handle is connected with a cable or solid link but i would look here. Would involve removing the door card which is quite simple
KISS = Keep It Simple, Stupid
First action should be to lubricate the latching mechanism on the door itself, as you mentioned. A few drops of a light oil should be all that the latch needs.
Do the passenger side (and the hood/bonnet + rear hatch latches), too.
Next action should be to assure that the rubber weather sealing isn't sticking, and holding the door shut. Wipe the rubber with a damp, lint free cloth (and the areas on the door that it contacts). Then, apply some talcum powder to your fingers, and rub it onto the rubber seals.
Don't forget the hatch seals (and, the top's rubber seals for you convertible owners out there).

Thanks all. I think I found the culprit.
So I have no issues opening the door when the lock is already unlocked. However, if I lock the vehicle, then unlock, the pass door unlocks and handle opens and opens the door, but the driver side says locked, the handle pops open, but wont open the door. So pretty sure its the locking mechanism. Going to lubricate the latch and might pull the panel off to lubricate the locking bit.

Nope you're totally right, I just miss spoke (tried remembering opening procedure without being in front of the vehicle).
But long story short, ordered this door latch from ebay, and after a ton of swearing and some bleeding (getting the cables hooked up is a pain) my problem is resolved.

I have read your post here with some interest both because of your moniker and the similarities of our Jag cars. I have a 911 996 C4 that I just needed to replace the passenger side door latch on due to similar window issues. I suspect you may have faced similar issues with your P cars in the past. Not the worst job but not the easiest either.
The question I have for you is did your F Type throw any codes or have any other wiggy stuff going on when the window started to malfunction? On the P cars I was getting central locking systems codes, the red light was always lite on the console key button and the remote locking with the key fob acted flaky.
Our cars are getting a bit older now and one thing I have started doing on a regular basis is to use silicone lubricant on the rubber trim around the windows on the car to help them slide up and down that 10 mm to open and close easier. Otherwise, those plastic/nylon gears that are actuated by the microswitches within the latches get worn and fail over time. There's a boat load of information on the P Rennelist forums about this.

Never had an issue with the P cars surprisingly (they were both very high milage too). But no codes on the Jag. Window acted fine too. Just exterior door handle not opening when the door was locked (as the door would stay locked, unlike the pass door).
