Default Drivers seat not moving all the way forward

Evening all!

first post, and sadly it’s not a “what a car post”!

so this evening the drivers seat decides to stop moving all the way forward, they are the many many way adjustable ones (lumbar and side bolster etc)

any ideas? Have checked to see if anything is blocking (clear) and detached the battery, still gets stuck…

cheers,

Jamie

First idea: is your battery fully charged? You would not believe the variety and number of odd symptoms cause by less-than-optimal voltage from the battery. Tye first suspect is always the battery. One procedure that cures many ills is to disconnect the battery, wait 30 seconds or so and reconnect…better still, when disconnected touch the +and - leads together for an instant.

others might want to comment on this procedure.

just to clarify - you can still move your seat forward but just not all the way forward correct ?

if so that particular motor and the electrics are still working so it implies a mechanical obstruction. I would check the running tracks again on both sides

Ah thank you for the swift replies!

sorry it was a bit wordy! Being upside down for half an hour with your hands under a seat is never fun…

So the battery is new, and did try disconnecting it last night for a good 10 minutes

And yes, all other seat functions work, and I almost have full forward and back, just the last couple of inches

it “clicks” when it gets to its most forward point currently

for me this is fine, I have the seat almost all the way back, but my better half is the total opposite! And it is her daily car

funny, bought the f type as something I would never have to scramble around in! My background has been Japanese cars in my youth and then Italian things (have a massive soft spot for Alfa Romeo 4Cs), so an f type r was rather different! Absolutely love it though!

Even though the battery is new it's a good idea to fully charge it before fitting as they are often less than fully charged when you buy them.

Try lowering both seats to the lowest and flattest position then move them forward as far as possible and see if they are the same. In my car and seating position my seat doesn’t max out moving it forward , instead the inner bolster starts to impinge on the transmission/centre tunnel which stop it going forward. It maybe her seat height is limiting forward movement
