I have dual pulleys with the corresponding VAP tune and have no problems whatsoever, but I don't go tracking or anything like that. Just wanted as much freeway pull as I could get.

Did you do colder plugs as well?

No not yet. But I'll be getting around to it soon since I've over 100k miles now. I've been running the dual pulleys and tune since December...almost 10k miles.

Did you go dual pulley all together, or did you do one at a time? If you did 1 at a time, how big of a difference is it?

I installed them about a month apart but I got the tune first, which definitely made its presence known. To be honest, I really didn't feel that much difference after that with either one. But like I said before, I can't ever really take advantage of the full power band. All I know is that 100mph sneaks up on me quick and keeping traction off the line is pretty much impossible.

Are you worried about engine damage, that's why you won't take it high in the rpm? I know you said you don't track the car. But have you done any full pulls through the gears?

I guess I'm a little wary of running it too hard due to the high mileage but I really just don't have any place around here to let the cat run. And I find that the 8speed does such a good job on its own on the freeway that I never bother with the paddles.

Oh ok, I have the upper pulley, 200 cell cats and tune. And I'm in the process of installing methanol for cooling. And I was thinking of doing the lower pulley next. But there's not alot of info out there on it for the v8.

Do you have the VAP 200 cell cats?

I had asked Stuart at VAP about running the dual pulleys and he said it was fine so long as you have the proper tune and take it easy on hot days if you're tracking.

Did he say to take it easy more so to save the cats or the motor?

I got the Mina Gallery upper and the Eurotoys lower during their respective Black Friday/Christmas sales. Not sure what the sizes are specifically.

I think he was referring to the motor.

I have those exact pulleys (on a V6). Running both pulleys at redline won’t do any harm to the engine but will run the supercharger beyond the adiabatic efficiency range causing a precipitous drop in power near redline when the engine gets hot.

On theV8, OEM upper pulley is 66mm vs 60.5mm for the Mina Gallery pulley. The Oem lower pulley is 162mm and the Eurotoys pulley is 180mm.

Do you think running those pulleys on a v8 with tune, cats, and meth will be fine?

The meth might keep things cool enough to maintain power at redline.

I know mine isn't a F-Type, but I am running a dual pulley on the V8 SC Engine in my 2015 XFR-S, same engine, and a tune really no different than what the "F-Type R" comes with.

So I started off with a Rica Tune and the upper pulley from Velocity AP. I had an itch to get more, so went with EuroToys lower pulley, but I went with Velocity AP's Tune. Eventually I went with Axle Back Quick Silver Exhaust, and High Flow 300Cell CATS, plus a bunch of other things along the way. Been on this setup for probably over 10,000kms (~6,200miles) and I push it hard, whenever I get the opportunity to. Many trips to the dragstrip and lots of freeway pulls. Mind you I live in Canada, and the hottest of days in the summer are ~32C (~90F), so I haven't gone with any of the additional cooling ad ons, such as: exchangers, or higher flow pumps, or Methanol/ water injection. Today for example is 21C (69F). High Temperature isn't as great a concern as it is in warmer climates.

Below is a helpful link of my journey:
This is where it started

So far I have no concerns with dual pulley setup but I didn't go bonkers with my setup, meaning:
  • Upper Pulley is Velocity AP's and there are smaller pulleys out there (Mina, etc), this is an improvement on stock, but not too crazy
  • Lower Pulley is Eurotoys' and I believe Velocty AP's lower pulley is larger than Eurotoys' pulley, again an improvement over stock, but I didn't go too crazy
  • These details were sorted from my own research, and some it can be found in some of Unhingd's resposnes in other threads
  • The thought process is even though I'm spinning the supercharger faster than stock, I haven't truly gone all out. This is my sad way of justifying it to myself.

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.
