Dumb Questions
Okay I have owned a lot of cars but the Jag owners manual is the worst I have ever seen (other than old triumphs and MG's). My car is supposed to have automatic brights, read manual. did what it said, does not work. Also cannot get the interior lights to work when you open the door or push unlock on the key, read manual (not in stealth mode), did what it said (which was almost nothing), still does not work. Jag can take lessons from BMW and MB about how to write owners manuals, this one stinks, belongs in here
Is it the owner handbook you are using (paperback or the electronic pdf version), or just the "Start guide"?
From the Start guide it says:
1. When AUTO is selected with the rotary control,
side lamps and headlamps will turn on automatically as
ambient light fades.
With the control in the low beam position, High beam
assist will activate automatically when ambient light falls
below a pre set level. Vehicle speed must be above 40
km/h (25 mph).
To override High beam assist and select low beam, pull
the lighting control backwards to the flash position and
release. To reinstate High beam assist, push the lighting
control forward to the high beam position, then back to
low beam position.
And for the interior lights:
Interior courtesy lamp (the middle lamp above the front window with touch sensitivity): Illuminates when the doors are unlocked and extinguishes 60 Seconds after both the doors are closed or when the vehicle is locked.
Touch the lens briefly to switch on/off.
To switch automatic illumination on/off, continue to touch the lens until the lamp flashes. Interior lights off or Interior lights auto will be displayed in the Message center accordingly.
I don't know if this is of any help, or if you allready have tried this?

When I took delivery of my F-Type I had to go through the vehicle settings (on the center display in the instrument cluster) and enable automatic high beams. For some reason the feature was disabled. I think the feature is referred to as "AHB" in most locations in the settings.
As previously stated, it is the most random, strange system I have ever used.
Recreating the exact same temperatures in your car has absolutely nothing to do with the thermostat settings. Even the vent module has a mind of its own, sometimes retracted, other times raised. I've even had the vents blow heat when I turned the temps down. No rhyme or reason.

I don't leave mine in auto very often. I want A/C or heat from both the vents and footwells, and it doesn't always do that. Otherwise, it works fine. I turn off A/C when I don't need it. With the top down, I turn it off completely if the weather allows, which is most of the time.
I think there may be something not working in my car tried everything suggested still does not work dealer says they will send their specialist over to my house. Amazing they have specialist at dealers just to explain the apps and features and get them working right.
You need to first enable auto high beams in the menus. There is checkbox under car settings. Then it works as described in the manual.
I tried this feature and did not like it. Mostly because it puts huge blue high beam (auto) sign on your dash and I find it distracting.
