Hey there guys have new problem or dillusion whichever you prefer! From inside the car when you pull on the lock the car won't unlock, use the keyfob it works fine? Any ideas or suggestions?

 

Thats what happens when you try to exit from the backseat!!

 

Plastic bracket from the handle to lock release is broke

 

Hey guys think for writing but the dang thing can't be broken because sometimes it does it sometimes it doesn't. Also before anyone responds, even if you wait for you to shut the car off so it unlocks automatically by itself it doesn't matter-patience or no patience it works when it wants and than doesn't work when it wants. If it doesn't work and than you use the key fob it works every time the automatic unlock doesn't! Hopefully this makes some sense

 

Well either way you'll need to remove the door panel and see whats going on in there....

Hey there bojangles if you look in the manual it will show in there the automatic lock feature. You have the choice of turning it on or off you just have to stick your key in the door somewhere and turn the feature on or off. Not sure if it is an option but try checking. Its kind of like the back seat feature in all sedans that have that child lock feature where you can't open the door from inside the back seat. Know what I'm talking about?

 

I think the auto-locking feature is only to lock the doors when you are 5mph or more. I didnt see any feature to auto-unlock the doors when turning the engine off...maybe that is a programmable feature??

 

Auto lock in my also unlocks automatically when the car is put in park. Perhaps its not working in yours...not sure. I just found out that I could shut my windows after I got out of the car and realized that the doors and moonroof were open. If you didn't know all you have to do is stick the key into the key slot on drivers side door and turn it towards the trunk (boot for you europeans) and hold it there until all windows and sunroof close. Learn new things every time I use the car seems like anyways!

 

You can also keep your finger pressed on the lock button on the key fob for more than 3 seconds which will close all windows too.

 

Man I'll have to try this out! Hopefully it works on my car never saw anything about it in the manual but that is sweet!

 

Mine doesn't shut the windows when I hold the button down nothing happens Well the lock hasn't been acting up for the most part. These little quarks make me love this car!!!

 

I hear ya, my buddies X type won't do it either...but mine does......both are 05's

 

Think I could check at a Jag dealer and ask why? Has anyone heard of a 02 doing it? Hey racer does his have navigation or is his a better or lesser model?
