Never tried playing a DVD, can't imagine I ever will. Out of curiosity, do you have a real use for playing a DVD, or are you just testing the functionality?

Default Only works if you aren't moving.

The screen will black out if you start moving. Safety issue. On my old FX there was a kit that would allow me to watch movies while driving (only used it when I was stuck in heavy traffic). In the end I never used it enough to make it worth the trouble of putting it in.

That's the point....I'll be sitting still in park and the screen goes black.

I think it's a cool feature....think about getting somewhere early, and having time to kill.....kinda cool.

I have used the DVD quite a few times. As noted above, the DVD blacks out when you're in motion.

I found, however, that if you are sitting in the car with the engine off but in accessory mode, exactly as you describe, the screen blacks out (and sound too). (This also happens listening to music.)

Oddly, if you just sit there for a minute or two, it just comes alive again and you can continue watching your DVD. A bit bizarre - can't work out a good reason why they would do it.

Off the top of my head - doesn't the radio do the same thing? If you're sitting there with the engine off, doesn't the radio turn itself off after a few minutes?

Yes. (I was including that when I mentioned listening to music. Didn't fully explain my point.)

And then it comes back on after a short while.
