Default Dynamic Mode

So my 2014 V8S feels quicker in regular mode, and the exhaust pops much more. Seems to slow a bit in dynamic, and the exhaust doesn’t pop and crackle nearly as much. I drive in regular mode much more often, wasn’t sure if this was normal as I expected more pops and crackles and a little better response in dynamic.

Sounds backwards to me, my R AWD is much louder and more lively in dymanic mode. I do always select Sport with dymanic, so that may make a difference.

Do the dials turn red in dymanic mode for you?

Dynamic in the ‘14 V8S should...
Tighten up steering (feels a bit heavier)
Suspensions gets a bit tighter (active dampers)
Transmission wants to shift more readily (takes less right foot to cause a downshift)
Activates active exhaust (which might already be on if you pushed the button)
Turns some interior lights red

Some of this stuff uses learning, so if you drive it sedately in Dynamic, it might learn to be a bit less peppy. I’ve experienced something like that before.

In my R when the car is in dynamic mode the exhaust is considerably louder than when it's just in regular drive with the active exhaust open.

If the settings for Dynamic have been “adjusted “ to negate the stiffer suspension, steering, engine and shifting settings, Dynamic won’t be changed from “normal”.....but shouldn’t be slower.
Take a look at how your Dynamic is configured.
mine is a ‘16 so may differ from yours...but I doubt it.

Dynamic on or off should not change engine output, only throttle response.

Check settings for dynamic. My 14V6S is very different in full dynamic.

Yeah, there is a "normal" setting for engine in the dymanic options.

This of course assumes one has ‘configurable’ dynamics. That was an option I didn’t get, think it was standard on the V8s.

I didn't get that option either but Cambo enabled it for me using his SDD equipment, and it turned out to be much easier to enable than he thought.
If you can find someone in your neck of the woods with the right equipment and knowledge/experience then get it done, you won't regret it.
A dealership could do it but none will unless you are on extremely friendly terms with them.
