Default End of 2018MY production!

I sent my build sheet today to a couple of dealers, with a view to purchase a new built-to-specs MY2018 F-Type before Christmas (for delivery in March, I guess)... but apparently, JLR stopped accepting new production orders for 2018MY F-Types two weeks ago!!!

I am floored... how can that be???

I can't find one that fits my specs in the nationwide inventory... any suggestions much appreciated, thank you.

Not true, just emailed local dealer. Currently 90-120 from order until delivery.

Dealers have been telling this lie and variations of it, to avoid special orders, for decades. They want a quick sale

Actually there is truth to this. Many on this forum know the GM of Jaguar Scarborough via the Lobster Run. He may care to comment if he sees this.

Jaguar will stop accepting orders when it's time to clear out the assembly line for the next MY. You will have to wait until January to build a 2019 which will deliver end of March / early April.

This is about the time they stop taking current model year orders every year. New model production has started in February-ish for years. My 16MY was built on 2/5/2015.

I put my order in, Mid-November and the dealer (Jaguar of Stevens Creek here in Silicon Valley) is telling me NO dealers are currently taking allocations. They cashed my deposit and now I'm just waiting to hear when is my build date! Anyone have any other info?

Local dealer said I’m able to come in January and place an order. Taking them currently with 90-120 order to delivery duration.

I know of an F -type ordered first week in November, two weeks ago was informed that it had 2018/19 upgrades like the upgraded 10" screen which wouldn't have to be paid for as car ordered early, if ordered 2 weeks ago it would have been more on the list price. Car expected at dealers on the 2nd week in February.

Well that wouldn't be too bad, My only worry is the 5.0 SC engine goes away, aren't we supposed to move to 4.0 Twin Turbo BMW engines soon? Any loss of noise would be a deal killer for me.

The deal with Ford for the AJ126 (V6) and AJ133 (V8) engines is due to expire in late 2020, so about three years yet of these engines in the F-Type.

Thank you all for your replies.

I have now called 6 dealers in 4 different states (NY, NJ, CT and MI)... all but one are telling me that they have no allocations for 2018MY F-Types and that I will have to wait until the 2019MY start shipping in the spring. There was only one dealer (in NY) who told me he could take my order, but he seemed more focused on taking my deposit than checking whether he could actually deliver.

So I guess some of us are not going to be able to order our cars for several months... hopefully, they will not bump up the price too much, change the design, the specs... or cancel the R models altogether.

Fingers crossed.... this is going to be a long wait.

Thank you.

There is still plenty of 2017 NOS on dealer's lots at deep discounts. Even still some 2016 NOS left kicking around too.
