Default End of lease notification

I received notice from Jaguar Financial that my lease has a year to go and it referred me to my contract, which I then reviewed. The contract states that they specify where I turn it in, unless I choose to buy it.
I called them and the csr told me that I could turn it in to any Jaguar dealer but that I needed to call Jaguar Financial at least a month in advance to get it inspected. She said the inspection could be done at my house.
Is this consistent with others' experience? What kind of inspection can they do in my driveway? Purely cosmetic?

I turned in a jag in 2016 and the inspection was optional. I never had it inspected. Just took it back to the dealership.

When we turned in our 2006 S-Type in 2012 (from a 4 year lease), the inspector was very thorough. He noted every ding and dent (from previous owner), checked paint thickness in various places, tire wear all around, interior of trunk, door jambs, weather stripping, mileage, etc.
Good luck..

Seems that Jaguar or a dealer would want the inspection done at the dealership so that any warranty or other work can be scheduled before the dealer takes the car. But I am pleased that the inspection can be done in my driveway, since the nearest dealer is 2.5 hours away.

I was instructed by Jaguar to have the vehicle inspected before turn-in, they did that at my home and then a month later,I dropped off the car at my local dealer which is not where I originally leased it from, pretty much standard of every lease.

Inspection and dealer are unrelated!

Yeah, I get that. Seems a bit strange, especially if one has the opportunity to "fix" any of the inspection findings before turning in the car. Is another inspection performed by this third party?

Only one inspection scheduled about a month before turn-in...
