Finally got my letter from Chase notifying me that my lease on 2016 F-TYPE Base Coupe was maturing in a few months. I've babied this car since day one..currently has 21000 miles on it and its already had 3 oil changes. My hope was to buy out the lease but the value on this car has taken a bath as of late and Chase won't budge on the buyout price.
Enter my potential replacement. The 2017 Honda Civic Si. The F-TYPE is like a British boxer against a Japanese samurai. Its brute power against finesse and agility. I was fortunate to spend the holiday weekend with one and for the price ($23900), its an outstanding value not to mention the near limitless option for aftermarket goodies.
-1.5 liter I4 turbo 205HP/192lbs torque
-6 speed manual
-Limited Slip Differential
-Apple Carplay/Android Auto
-Adjustable suspension (via dampers)
-Laptimer/G-foce meter/shift light
-Leather wrapped steering wheel with red stitching
-Heated seats
-Rear and side view cameras
I was hesitant considering how small the engine is. No turbo lag and I feel that Honda really is underrating the power of this engine. I really don't think there is another car in that price segment that offers an LSD and adjustable suspension.
As my lease maturity date approaches, I will be selling some items. (20" Gyrodynes powdercoated black, interior trim pieces, etc)

Right there with you White Tardis, just got off the phone with Jaguar Financial calling for a inspection...may try and sell my car before turn-in if possible.
It does look like a Japanese Samurai I grant you...
It may be a British boxer but it's wearing a tutu.
No arguing about the value but I couldn't even be persuaded to test drive one looking as that Honda does. I remember a memorable Clarkson quote where he described the Cadillac CTX as a car designed by a bunch of guys who only had a ruler (straight edge).
And comparing a two seater to a four seat sedan is kinda apples and fish. Now the revised Mazda MX-5 (especially the retractable hard top) that would be a more fitting comparison...
There are a lot of Japanese cars out there that look like an origami project gone wrong. Others look like the were in collisions but they came that way.
A change like that would be a move from classy and luxurious to bad boy.
Have you considered the Focus RS, Focus ST, or Fiesta ST? My daily is the Fiesta. It looks like an angry Pokemon.

Just of out of curiosity how does the Fiesta ST drive compared to the Jag. It's obviously slower and front wheel drive but it is a lot smaller and lighter too.

What is the buyout price/residual amount they are seeking?
Considering the Si was ahead of some cars 2-4x more its pricetag..I'll take it. Its a car you can daily and track. Heres an interesting feature:
LOL; in fairness, the Honda could be the best little car since sliced bread but you had to expect it, right? ... you can't come on a forum for a premium european manufacturer's flagship sportscar and say you're trading it in for a japanese, 4dr, 4cyl, FWD compact car and not expect a certain amount of abuse.
Now, now. WhiteTardis has been a helpful member of the forum for quite a while. While the Honda doesn't interest me in the slightest, I wish him well.
He's helped out quite a few people on here! The Civic isn't any interest to me either but I get why you're going that route since you were a previous import owner and enjoy the aftermarket support unlike what we have available for the Jag.

I've never ridden a skateboard but its been said to ride like one. Rides on rails and is a great autocross car as well as daily. What it lacks in 0-60 it makes up in handling and you will beat out a lot of fast cars on the curves. FWD doesn't really feel like FWD but has torque steer. The ride is stiff but not bad if you're in California. It feels faster than it is, due to the torque. It is downright fun on curvy mountain roads. It's a niche car and has a big following. If you'd like, check out the youTube videos and forums. Compared to the Jag, the interior is downright cheap and does not compare to the Jag. However, the touchscreen, SYNC, navigation (optional) is way better. You can also get them with Recaros but its a $2000 option.
So the Fiesta is "old Faithful," and the Jag is my "fast luxury GT cruiser, and it feels really great." Apples and oranges.
They will stop making it end of the 2017 MY. The 2018 will have a 3 pot 1.5l litre and the US might get it. The Fiesta ST will run anywhere from $20K to $26K depending on how it is outfitted. I think the Focus ST looks like a catfish. It runs around $35K if the dealer does not mark them up. The FoST is somewhere inbetween.
