Jaguar Land Rover Reports A Strong September Sales Performance

Jaguar Land Rover delivers a strong September sales performance retailing 46,299 vehicles, up 7% year-on-year
Land Rover delivers positive September sales performance retailing 37,795 vehicles, up 9%
Jaguar delivers positive September sales performance retailing 8,504 vehicles, up 1%

Calendar year-to-date Jaguar Land Rover sells 351,153 vehicles, up 12%
Jaguar Land Rover, the UK's leading manufacturer of premium luxury vehicles delivered positive sales performance in September, retailing 46,299 vehicles, up 7% versus the same period last year. During the first nine months of the year, Jaguar Land Rover has sold 351,153 vehicles, up 12%.
Commenting on the September performance Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director said: "Jaguar Land Rover has delivered continued solid growth in September. Our investment in new products continues with the debut of the Land Rover Discovery Sport and the Jaguar XE this month, giving us a very strong, desirable range of products appealing to more customers than ever before - and many more new models in the pipeline."

Jaguar Land Rover's regional performance year-to-date shows 39% growth in the China Region, 18% in Asia Pacific, 7% in North America, 6% in the UK and 5% in Europe, with other overseas markets 1% down. Retails in the month of September were as follows: Asia Pacific up 26%, the China Region up 25%, the UK up 9% and other overseas market up 4%. Sales in Europe were down 9% for the month and, in North America, sales were down 10% due to low inventory of volume leaders.
Land Rover delivered robust sales performance for September, selling 37,795 vehicles, up 9%. Calendar year-to-date sales reached 287,919 vehicles, up 13% year-on-year on the back of continued strong customer demand particularly for the Range Rover Sport, Range Rover and Range Rover Evoque,

Jaguar sales in the month of September retailed 8,504 up 1%. Calendar year-to-date sales were up 10% year-on-year, retailing 63,234 vehicles, with the F-Type continuing to drive sales and raise brand awareness around the world.

Great that overall sales are up however the press release glosses over the key point that both Land Rover and Jaguar reported US sales for October which were again down year on year (13% for Jaguar, 8% for LR, with the Jag numbers following a 30% drop in August, a 26% drop in July and a 22% drop in June). It's really LR which is powering the JLR group right now. US sales numbers are really very poor for Jaguar - that's something they definitely need to work on...

Until Yesterday, had not seen one. Then 2 in a day.

Still uncommon enough to draw attention .. but then my dealer only sells 3-4 a month I believe. Mine is the first Firesand Coupe they have had - and only 1 F Type has been in for a service since they started selling them.

I want Jaguar to sell enough to be profitable and have enough money to build an RS-GT version. But don't sell too many that it becomes common like 911s, M3s, etc.

......and restricted supply in the US because, like most other luxury manufacturers, they are sending as many vehicles east as they possibly can where the demand and the profits are far larger than in the west.

Bad news for us........

I don't think the US sales numbers are due to supply. Jaguar reportedly has the highest average MSRP of the maintstream premium/luxury brands as its range starts with the XF, so it's not playing at all in the comparatively vast 3/C-Class/A4 etc market which is where the volume sales are to be found. The XF and XJ are good choices in their segments, but it's hard to say they are class leading. Jaguar stopped doing sales breakouts by model in their US sales reports a few months back but it is more likely than not that at least half of their sales are coming from the F Type (based on the most recent report when they did) so sales numbers for the the XF, XK and XJ are obviously very weak and won't improve any time soon until one or both of some significant incentive $$$ or model refreshes are made available.

The new XE is the car Jaguar needs to revitalize sales numbers and this car truly can't come soon enough. I personally find it staggering that the US market is having to wait until 2016 for this car.

Very surprised the XE is not out until 2016. It's like the new Honda NSX. By the time it arrives no one will care anymore.

Maybe, I don't know, but my point was that the manufacturers will make more profit by sending a car East than they will West. So they are. Why launch here first if you can launch there?

Highest average MSRP in the US when they look at it on a global scale is not that attractive. Look at the cost of an F Type in the UK where they make the things.....$136K for an R Versus $99K here. Take account for different tax rates and for shipping and thats a heck of a difference in profit. Move East and the difference is far more attractive.
