Default F-Type Factory Tires

For the base model, what are the factory tires? Am I correct that it's

18" : Continental Contisport Contact 2

19 and 20: Pirelli P-Zero

how is the treadlife for the CCC2? I am pretty sure the P-Zero is pretty short... was going to lease and hoping to not have to put more than one additional set of tires on. Anyone who is leasing have any experience with this? I was hoping there would be some kind of all season option. I had Continental DWS on my 370Z and LOVED them.

I think there are a lot of threads where this have already been discussed.

I am not sure if thread life is all you are looking for or there are other criteria for you.

Here are some of the threads:

Good luck.

Thanks. These definitely reinforce my thought that the Conti DWS are very good. Do you think either the CCC2 or P-Zero would last me 20k miles or more? I do have a daily driver incase there is snow.

If you are going to drive your F-Type in a cold climate with occasional snow then it's a no-brainer between the Conti DWS and the P-Zero, the DWS wins hands down. Forget which one lasts 20k miles or more, grip/safety is infinitely more important (and I suspect the DWS will last longer anyway).

Not sure about the CCC2, but I am pretty sure the P-zeros wont last you 20k. And P-zeros in snow are definitely a big no. I have the P-zeros on my SVR and even at 45 degs outside I can feel the tires become super hard and start slipping even if the road surface is dry. I don't drive my car in snowy temps or when it gets below 45 deg. The tires are so hard that you can feel every small bumps and even small stones. Also I have read on other forums that the P-Zeros might develop cracks in cold weather. So I would definitely not recommend the P-Zeros as all seasons or tires with low tread wear. Tread wear will also depend on how you drive you car.

I have my Hyundai for snow and extreme cold, but since I have a short commute I will want to drive this car as much as possible even in the dry winter if it comes down to replacement I will go with the DWS

I have P-Zeros. I think I got 13k miles out of the back tires and about 16K out of the front. I don't think you can get 20k out of those tires.

If you are going to drive in dry winters and not very harsh winters like below 20 - 25 deg .... take a look at the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s ... Everyone has been raving about those tires and there are youtube videos showing it works near freezing temps. You still need to research and stuff.

This was a detailed review I found.

Base model has 18 inch CCC2 tyres. I would not recommend them. Neither Continental or Jaguar stand behind these tyres. At best you will get 15K out of them. However my dealership tells me I wore 4/32 in 1200 miles with normal driving. According to Jaguar USA that is normal wear and tear.

I've got the 18" Conti's and at 9000 miles they show very little wear. I'm in a warm client and drive fairly aggressively. I'm sure that they will go well over 20,000. I hate the tires (getting Michelin's as soon as I can wear down the tires or my wife, whichever comes first ;-), but everyone else seems to love them, so maybe I just expect too much from the F-Type.

I got 15K out of my P-Zeros, with most of those being commute miles. There was actually a fair bit of tread left on the front, but I replaced all four because I didn't want to mix front P-Zeros and rear Michelin P4S.

I got 22K out of the P Zeros on the wagon. Absolutely ridiculous. Go with the Michelins you can get them at Costco.

even if you could get 20out of the P Zeros you won’t want to. No traction at all, terrible tyres on this car.

+1.
When I switched to the MPS4S the difference was night and day.

+1. I'm at 13,400 miles on my '17 V6 S and the rears are now down below the tread wear indicators. The fronts are not far behind.

The car seems to handle great to me, so I assumed that the factory tires are a primary part of the equation. Aside from the quick wear, would you please elaborate as to why the factory tires are terrible.

In what regard, better handling, less noise, wear, etc.?

My PZero's were replaced at the CPO inspection for inadequate tread depth.....at 6800 miles!

Infinitely better grip both dry and wet, but especially in the wet.
With the P-Zeros it was very easy (too easy) to light up the DSC and/or kick the rear end out (and this is on a measly V6S not a V8) but on the MPS4S it's much harder to do either, they just "grip and go".
Ride and noise are pretty much the same, I can't really tell any difference.
The inside edges of the P-Zeros wore out quite quickly but so far (3,000 miles) and even on VAP lowering springs the MPS4S are wearing much less and nice and evenly.

What everyone else has said!....

I had MPS4s on my Supra TT and they were amazing.

Better wear
Better grip
Less noise (I thought so)

I will be removing the P Zeros very shortly and it will be a relief if i am honest not a patch on the MPS4S IMHO.

The MPS4s came in and were installed a couple of days ago. I can tell that they handle better. The better handling is especially noticing when accelerating from start and turning sharply. Now there's very little tire slippage and the traction light doesn't blink near as much. Thanks everyone for your help.
