The thing is, and someone tell me if I'm super wrong, 6MT V6 sports and GT cars aren't exactly rare or special in general - meanwhile, AWD V8 sports and GT cars aren't that common.

I think your view is quite realistic. In case of the F-Type, AJ126 (V6) was an engineering compromise that blanked two back cylinders from the AJ133 V8 engine block. It carries a 50 pound+ weight penalty, compared to a dedicated V6 design. Furthermore, because the AJ126 ended up being an unusual 90-degree V6 block, it needed a balance shaft, which also increases friction and reduces efficiency of the powertrain. I know that V6 F-Type owners praise its exhaust note, but the V6 powertrain itself is a serious engineering compromise for a sports car, and that reduces any future collector appeal, compared to the V8 F-Type.

In regard to the manual transmission trim specifically, the ZF6 manual gearbox used in the rare F-Type V6 models was a nearly-identical unit to the ones used in older BMW manuals. It had a rubbery shift feel and did not have precision of a Honda, Mazda, or Porsche manual shifter.

The second-hand market is quite clear which trims are likely to be future collectibles. I think the best chances are on the late-model (i.e., facelifted) V8 F-Types (2021-2024), and then the earliest F-Type V8S RWD models in 2014-2015 period. The common denominator here is that the collectability best stands with the supercharged V8 models, and not any V6 variants that are widely known as engineering compromises.

The reality is this: Nobody here, or anywhere else, truly knows how values are going to play out for these cars. It’s all speculation, so all opinions offered on the topic are valid. There’s no point in getting all bent out of shape about it.

People can apply their “logic” all they want. I’d be willing to bet that there are all kinds of examples where cars ended up being winners, and there was no logic that could fully explain it.

Anyway, this exchange reminds me that my not giving a crap about depreciation is the way to go…lol

It’s an investment in my emotional well being, and passion for cars, first. Anything that comes after that values-wise comes. Or it doesn’t. Making money in cars is not a focus of my life. That is better done in other ways as far as I’m concerned.

Hell yeah. I would love if, when my time with the car ends, I could sell it for more than I paid for it. But in the end, I bought it to have something nice, a bit different than I've always driven, and to enjoy it. It's not a museum piece, and I hope that by the time I'm done, it has a patina of honest usage.

I prefer to keep my patina on my PPF if at all possible. Other than this, fully agree with the rest ;-0

My interactions has been different when it comes to Jags. Ive had several Jags and they always got the most attention amongst the crowds and lots of pleasant compliments. But then there is a flip side where there is a lot of haters and jealousy when it comes to the car scene especially if your car gets a lot of attention. Ive had a Porsche 718 GTS driver throw up his middle finger at me on the expressway because he was so upset and jealous the amount of attention I was getting in my F-Type from other drivers. Ive had a Ferrari SF90 owner also was upset and jealous because when I pulled up in my Jag all the pedestrians and other drivers on the street was giving the Jag so much attention meanwhile ignoring the Ferrari owner $500k + SF90. As it relates to depreciation 99% of vehicles depreciate. Look at Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston, etc they depreciate rapidly. As it relates to Porsche most models do depreciate however certain variants may hold its value more or appreciate. The reason Porsche depreciation curve is different is because of the hype and the performance aspect that comes with them. You go to any Cars & Coffee you are guaranteed to see about 100 Porsche variants on a regular. Where as being a Jag owner you may see 1-2 F-Types or 1-2 XK variants and possibly an E-Type or XJS at a Cars & Coffee. The E-Types appreciated so the F-Types might do the same 20-30 years. Regardless I enjoy Jags they my favorite cars and I don't worry about depreciation.
