Question F-Type R Rattle From Engine Bay With No CEL — Normal or Cause for Concern?

2016 F-Type R. I’ve recently started noticing a rattling/clicking sound coming from the engine bay, and I’m not sure if this is normal or something I should be concerned about. See the video attached ( https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GKy...ew?usp=sharing ). It's a bit hard to hear on cold start, but the rattling sound becomes more isolated after 0:46 when the engine goes to normal idle.

I tried using a stethoscope to pinpoint the source, and it seemed loudest around the coil/spark plug area, though I could easily be mistaken. There's no check-engine light, the car drives perfectly fine, and a visual inspection didn’t reveal anything unusual. I first suspected the belt or pulleys, but to me they look and operate normally (again, I could be wrong).

If anyone has insight or experience with this type of noise, I’d really appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks,
Git

PS: Not sure if it’s related, but I did recently clean the engine bay with Gunk Engine Brite (Harbor Freight) and sprayed it off with a light pressure washer. I know it’s not recommended, but I had a dead animal in there and the smell was just obnoxious. Could there be water trapped somewhere that could cause this?

I’ve heard lot of mentions about supercharger coupler rattles being a problem, but I’m not totally sure if that is what you have going on there.

not a high quality video that was provided but sounds like normal fuel injector and HP fuel pump noise to me.

The video was compressed due to file size limits. Here’s a higher-quality version: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GKy...ew?usp=sharing

Is that really normal??

I’ve heard that as well, but if the coupler were failing, the noise should be loudest around the supercharger pulley, which doesn't sound like it as far as I can tell. A coupler failure at 12k miles would also be unusual, though not impossible, obviously.

Does anyone else believe this could still be the coupler?

Take off the SC belt and start the car. That will tell the tale quickly.

Now I do see what "might" be a much larger problem? You mention a dead animal and if it was a rat or a mouse you could have some wiring damage. We have stupidly let morons force the car companies to use soy beans for the wiring insulation. Yes incredibly dumb and brain dead! Did any one of those brainiacs even think that providing grain for rodents inside the car was a bad idea?

It's so bad they now sell pepper tape so you can wrap the wires to hopefully stop the chewing. But it's an epidemic if you do any searches. Thousands of damaged cars and huge repair bills to fix the wiring. It will only get worse.
Just another example of how unsustainable these stupids laws are. No one thinks at all it's just failed politics over and over.

Sounds normal to me, my '16 v6 sounds about the same, like a chorus of sewing machines..........

...it certainly isn't a smooth sounding engine by all means, my V6 F-Type sounds like a tin of nails compared to my other car, a Alfa Romeo twin cam Giulietta.

Update: I went to the Jaguar dealer, and their mechanic listened to the engine. He confirmed the sound is normal and didn’t hear anything unusual. I probably just hadn’t noticed it before with the engine cover on. Everything checks out, false alarm.

Thanks everyone for your input.
