I was at my detailers shop and noticed this F-Type. It has an S badge but it has the quad exhaust. I thought that the S version has the dual exhaust in the middle of the car. Did he change his badge from R to S. I saw another f-type convertible with an S badge and quad exhaust today so I figured that I would ask here.
Older spec F-Type. V8 was available as a 488hp "S" model or the 550hp "R" model.
Thanks for the explanation. When you say older does that mean 2014. What year or point during the year did this change? I love the quad exhaust look and wish that Jaguar would have kept it on the current S line. I haven't decided on an S or R yet but that is a factor.

All years V6- Center exit exhaust
2014-2015 V8 "S" and "R" get the quad exhaust
2016 North America loses the V8 "S" and the "R" becomes standard with AWD.
The "V8S" was only in the convertible models. Prior to the Coupe, there was the V6, V6S and V8S. When the coupe came out, the next model year for the convertible (2016) changed the V8S to R to match the coupe.

Base your decision on whether you want a V6 or V8, and whether or not you want AWD.....the badge and hp issues just confuse things. All V8 F types have the quad exhaust and all V6 F types have the center dual exhaust.
All V8 F types are identical mechanically with the 550 PS "R" versions getting a different tune compared to the 510 PS tune the V8S versions got......and as far as that goes, the same holds true for the 575 PS SVR and P7 with the exception of a different exhaust system.
If you want a new V8 F type in North America, it is AWD only now, still sold elsewhere.
