That puts the 5.0L within easy reach of 715hp. A lower pulley, properly designed long tube headers and a less restrictive converter can only take that number higher. Are you in?

A couple new (to me) things here: the titanium and nickle-chrome exhaust system (for weight) and the 265 tires in front/315 tires in back. The other upgrades noted were already well publicized.

I am a bit surpriced that they have not managed to shave off more weight.

It is still heavier than a standard rwd R...

+1 and considerably heavier than a base V6. I think that is just ridiculous!

+1, There is no point to this car other than status. I do like the front end though. I will be creating my own "SVR" for about $50K less.

agreed.

ill put the front if possible on my v6s, there is no point to get the svr over the r imho, especially as the fixed spoiler is damn ugly

This is what I would have paid $160k+ for:

1. 625-650 hp V8 5.0L Coupe
2. SVR front facia with real brake cooling vents.
3. 20" carbon fiber wheels 9.5x20" front, 11.0x20 rear.
4. Michelin PSC2 265/35 front, 305/30 rear
5. Carbon fiber roof.
6. 7 speed (2 O.D. gears) manual transmission (no clutch delay valve)
7. carbon/ceramic brakes
8. no A/C
9. RWD only
10. Lightweight Recaro buckets (manual 3 way adjustment).
11. Convertible 6pt. to 3pt. seat belts.
12. Minimum legally required number of airbags.
15. No infotainment system.
16. Touchscreen only for system readout and setup.
17. Integrated removable rollcage.
18. Suspension 1.5" less than R. (matching dampening and anti-sway bars)
19. Computer modulated spoiler deployment (variable extension based on speed)
20. Torsen style mechanical LSD
21. TVB
22. Manual hatch.
23. fixed vents
24. Manually adjusted mirrors.
25. True short shifter (7cm or less)
26. 2015 style side skirts (flat black)
27. Badged V8U

Probably cheaper to build than an R, but this would be my idea of a super car.

+1, you're on the right track for a true performance-oriented car by leaving a lot of heavy accessories off, BUT I think the entire Jaguar line-up could benefit from R&D funds invested in finding lighter weight alternatives for nuts, bolts, and every component going into the car.

That would also help the company meet its ever-tightening CAFE requirements, while improving overall performance. The future alternative will be ever smaller engines with reduced output.

So, not being someone that tracks my car a lot, the above couple of posts have left me with a couple questions.

For $160k+, if you really want a hardcore track monster, why not do a focused 911 build? I think it's unarguably the better track car. Where the F-Type excels IMO is as a very powerful street cruiser.

Not saying you are wrong in your opinion, just that I want to understand it better.

Mostly because the 911 is butt ugly (of course, IMO), and is a tired design from the mid-'60s. After 50 years, I have gotten tired of looking at them.

I bet the cross bar is to meet European pedestrian safety standards.

Yep, but I'd venture to guess under $100K in a year or so because I don't see a market for it. It just doesn't deliver really anything more than an aggressive look, and as a late Governor of Texas said in reference to a wannabe cowboy . . . "all hat and no gun."

Just read in the German brochure that to reach 200mph you have to enter VMax mode in Dynamic mode. This is done by pressing the rear spoiler button for three seconds which then puts the spoiler in the lowest position to reduce drag ....
