Mine is a U.S. 2018 SVR. Pops and crackles with the best of them! It's all in the technique. Raise RPM to 3,500-4,000, downshift and lightly tap, tap, tap, the gas. With a little practice you can get quite a bit of the pops and crackles...

That's the method! I always try to time it for when I'm approaching an underpass! 🤣

It pops and crackles a lot over 3,000 RPM, and often does it on its own a bit between 2,000 and 3,000 - especially going downhill in manual mode.

I just purchased a USA Spec 2021 Facelift 'R' P575, which, as i have read, has much of the same suspension & engine components of the SVR. My exhaust is much much quieter & pops & crackles are far more random & difficult to engage using the old technique. Even in dynamic, you have to be above 3,000rpm to get much exhaust sound.

My 2020 SVR is painted Madagascar orange(glossy, special,+$4500). After a cross country trip (around 5000 miles or so and ten states) I received a couple of stone abrasions. I called my local dealer and he called Jaguar and said they don't even make touch up paint? Dealer is checking to see if he can get the formula and maybe I could go to a paint store to have it mixed up. Sounds crazy to me, what happened if I had a real fender bender an needed a major repair?

If you check with a modern body/paint shop I think you’ll find they can match any colour.

Thank you, I'll probably have to try it.

Even some NAPA stores do touch up/paint matching these days.

So do online places like Paintscratch.dom (<<<< I'm a satisfied customer) and AutomotiveTouchup.Com. Those two online places guarantee a match, they send a card that you can paint onto & hold up to you car to make sure you are satisfied.

It sounds like that dealer is mis-informed or didn't want to do the legwork. You should be able to get the paint code from your VIN sticker on the door jam. A quick search turned up paint code 1BT for Madagascar Orange Gloss. It is even available on Amazon.

You're welcome. That is a beautiful color. Have you thought about putting PPF on it? Definitely worth it

The dealer put the extra coating on (about $900). The windshield sticker says PPS technology. Dealer said I'd never have to wax it but I still do after washing to remove pollution spotting, bugs, smoke from the forest fires, sea salt etc...

Question for you with SVR. I was able to find me a used complete SVR spoiler system. However its missing 4 bolts that attach the spoiler and connects to the lifting bracket. Does anyone have a picture of these bolts and what sizes they are? I cant find them in the jaguar parts catalogue.

thanks
Luis

Hey all, happy to be joining this community. A few weeks back I went to go test a SVR that my local dealer had (just for fun) and the exhaust blew me away. I knew I had to have one. Currently I have a deposit on an Ultra Blue 2017 SVR coupe.

How have your experiences been with your R/SVR's? Any major items to watch out for? I've spent the past couple hours reading through old threads and it seems like I need to make sure I get a good inspection on the differential and possible fuel injectors.

Haha for sure. I have a 2019 C63S that I'm keeping as my daily and walking back to it after the test drive, the AMG exhaust didn't sound that great anymore

Are there any exhaust valve modifications/modules that exist for our cars? A way to force the valves to be fully open 100% of the time? Believe the F-type's valves only fully open at around 3.5K even with it set "Open." This is the same case on AMG cars and I have an exhaust valve module on mine

It depends on the MY, but on my MY18 in dynamic mode the valves are open all the time (very noticeable at tickover). Dynamic off but with the active exhaust button switched on, the valves open at around 1,500 rpm, so you have plenty of scope for stealth or hooliganism!

Hi Xec, I have a 2020 F Type SVR ordered in May of 2019, delivered on Dec 7, 2019. Took a couple of trips last summer (7000 miles). Not driving much lately as the winter in Idaho has less than ideal driving conditions. However it runs perfectly. No issues at all, (shouldn't be after I paid sticker price cash, $146,000 but got $9000 discount). The only slight disappointment is the less than great sound of the Meridian sound system. I paid $700 extra for the supposedly better sound system. My Bose system on a 2001 Yukon Denali was much better.
Too bad no SVR's for 2021, I guess they thought they were too expensive over the " plain R types".

Are you sure the valves are fully open in Dynamic? I test drove a SVR convertible in my area. It isn't loud at idle even in Dynamic. Louder at low RPM's but somewhere around the 3K mark the exhaust just absolutely explodes in volume. This makes me think that Dynamic+Open is likely only 50% valve open. Until the engine is under a high load that is, then the valves fully open.

AMG uses the same trick to get by noise regulations. At 4K RPM, the valves fully open.

I just want to sound annoying all the time

Pictures please!

Yeah I've heard about the Meridian system gripes. That sucks, but it seems to be a common thing with cars nowadays. Just a badge/branding without much of the actual quality to back it up. Same thing on my C63S, the "upgraded" Burmester system looks pretty fancy but the sound leaves a lot to be desired.

How have the service bills been for yours?

Yep. You can definitely hear the rumble but, like I said in my post, it depends on the MY. Some years apparently don't open the valves until 1,500 rpm in dynamic, others open the valves at tickover even when dynamic is off. The engine doesn't start to roar until the revs are up so that may explain why you think the valves aren't fully open.

On my 15my R the valves are open all the time in dynamic and when the exhaust button is pressed.
