I did not check for a long time. I assumed if it was low I would get a message or warning. The car went through the dealer for inspection various times before it went.

Thanks, good to know. I check my digital gauge every other day, a long time habit since my E92 M3 days.

what was the cost of replacing the engine? Did you put a new engine or a used one?

Not sure how I missed this build thread but welcome!

Is that an aftermarket front bumper? Or did you modify the stock bumper? Also where did you get that front lip?

I am a huge fan of the KW coilovers and AP Racing BBK and jealous that you're running both I look forward to watching your progress!

hey thanks man, put a smile to my face.

On the first set of pictures, the front bumper is stock but modified.
On the second set of pictures, I have the cmst front bumper, it came with the lip installed. Costs about 10k RMB.
The kw v3s are awesome, no float and handles the track really well highly recommended, can be set up for daily.

Then I wanna run a custom tune on it with better mid to top end speed with the meth. I want to add gauges for oil issues but am unsure what to get or what I should look out for. Here is what the car looks like now with some of the CMST parts. I like CMST because I need the front intake duct for the eventuri intakes and brake ducts

The red convertible is the CMST build car.

Anyway, I welcome any suggestions or critique as I build the car.
seeing your build makes me so happy. i’m so glad people are modding the v6, really looking forward to how far it can go!

Ahh gotcha. We need more pictures of your car! It looks like you have a vented rear bumper and a new rear diffuser along with new side fenders.

Agreed. I was starting to feel like the only one with a build thread!

FR500GT your build thread is awesome I've been lurking there for awhile lol.

I dont have a lot of pictures for my car, here is what I can dig up. Once I go back to China next month I can take more pics. Both the front sides and rear fenders are vented but I dont have any side skirts its just oem with wrap. I dont think I will be getting any side skirts, for me nothing at the moment suits the front lip.

The rear diffuser is from TOPMIX, much better than the stock v6s diffuser imo, I actually cut out the two outer spaces near the rear wheels, I think it looks better (and it gives better aero in my head) However, I dont have back up lights anymore.

Morning,

Please could you expand on who CMST and TOPMIX are as google does not know and neither do I LOL!!!

Love the look and would like to know more about the bumpers and diffusers.

Do you have any web links to the manufactures websites?

Hey guys I looked around, the topmix site is down I think, cmst doesn't even have a website I am sorry.

I just ordered them through the shop I work with. Both CMST and topix I found through taobao.com its kinda like eBay but for Chinese ppl.

here is a link from taobao. Unfortunately I don't know if they can speak English or ship internationally. If you are interested I can try to get an email.

You can usually find someone who buys for english speakers and handles the transactions for some fees, if you are unwilling to experiment. A few names are escaping now ill post if I remember

One would have thought that CMST could finish off the bodywork properly rather than just using pop-rivets to staple on the fenders. That's something I would have done to a racecar in my fast and furious days.

Cooler installed from CR racing, a local company that specializes in intercoolers

I haven't had the chance to track it yet, on the dyno back to back pulls the temperature did drop down nicely but until track days I can't confirm how well this works.

Also thinking about getting Recaro Sportster CS seats, what do you guys think? I haven't pulled the trigger yet because I want to redo the skin on it. Here are some that I think look good, could use suggestions on color/material/stitching.

Its custom made, by a local company called CR racing. It costed me 9650 RMB which is like $1485ish (installed). I don't think they would sell overseas or anything though.

I think it would be very similar to what you would get from a fab shop that has experience with intercoolers

Yeah there is a few intercooler options for the F-type available, really interested to hear your thoughts on the intercooler and if you think it made a difference.

I also notice you removed the pedestrian air bags, out of interest what weight saving did you achieve by doing so?

Also as your a track car and have no need for rear access as nice as the Recaro Sportster CS seats are, they are still 15kg each, have you considered maybe some Recaro Pole Position seats, those are even lighter at 7kg each.

^^^This. As much as I love the Sportsters, Pole Positions would probably be ideal in this car since you probably never change your seat position anyways. I was looking into running the Sabelt GT3 seat sometime this summer but I have yet to come across ANYONE that has swapped out their factory F-Type seats (except for the GT4 cars).

Very interested to see what you do with this!

For me, I can't feel the difference pedestrian airbag delete made. I did it because it was a free mod and I don't think I will ever run anyone over.

I picked the sportster over pole because it is cheaper and the car is more of a weekend car for me than a track car and I don't want it to be too hardcore I guess.

Its going to be awhile before I track this car but I will report back.

I'd never expect you too be able to feel the difference, I just wondered if you weighed the parts you removed or could guesstimate a weight, from looking at them they look quite small so my guess is they don't weigh much.

Yes we all like free or low cost modifications.

A little like if your in a warmer climate running more water than anti-freeze in your cooling system for better cooling properties, than the factory 50/50 fill as in a hotter climate running a 70% water to 30% anti-freeze will result in better cooling and lower temperatures. Or if you in a very hot climate then simply run just water with 1-2 bottles of water wetter for maximum cooling performance.

Like the RAM AIR stuff I've done and any free weight reduction in the end can all add up and for me it could be that extra tenth in quarter mile.
