Default FR500GT's F-Type Build Thread

I picked up my F-Type last Friday so I figured I'd introduce myself and document the build along the way. My buddy works for the dealership and was able to set me up with an insane deal on a bare bones 2017 base model F-Type. I'm coming from a few high HP cars but I feel that with the correct mods this car will be able to hold its own on the street as well as the track. The plan is to do the works plus a few custom pieces; wheels/tires, springs, exhaust, tune, front splitter, rear diffuser, high fixed wing, etc.

Jason

Welcome to - in the words of fellow member MBourne - the nut house.

Is it just me but is this Forum been [recently] inundated with build after build after build. Mod after mod after mod?

I've never seen so many parts and pieces of our F-Types being scattered about!

Well, with all this building and modding going around - and considering Mr. FU not only got his short-shifter installed (happily) but changed his avatar as well - I decided to make some modifications myself and started my project this afternoon.

Check out my "new" avatar and let me know what you think. (Oh yeah, before someone - Dave - chimes in. I did change from Super Performance Brakes to Carbon Ceramic).

To be honest, I am used to forums with multiple subsections but I realize that the jaguar is a different platform with a difference type of crowd. However, I try to break the mold whenever possible

I had a couple of 5-600 horsepower Saleens. All were daily driven and tracked.

Big factor is the cars have been around now for 4 years, so a used market is (finally) developing. And attrition is taking its toll so some of the cars are being broken. And the "user base" is finally big enough to attract 3rd party vendors for performance parts. All good things.

Quite ambitious for the V6 model. Interested to see how that turns out for you. I would expect that would require significantly more work than the Saleens did.

I don't plan on a V6. I'm looking for an R.

Stohlen, I think you got me and Jabooh1 mixed up haha. As far as power goes, I am only interested in doing exhaust, tune and maybe pulleys.

And I applaud you - or anyone - for being...well...you. If we were all alike that would be some kind of boring! I was merely making mention that all of a sudden it seems like lots [more] mods and "builds" are popping up on the Forum. And that's a good thing.

Paddle shifter extensions installed

Starting off small but since I drive my car in manual mode 100% of the the time I needed something more functional. I would have preferred a direct replacement for our factory paddles but these extensions that I found will get the job done just fine. There are made of aluminum and the black matches with the factory paddles to give it an OEM+ look. The fit is spot on and shifts are firm like they should be. The installation only takes 5 minutes to do.

I fitted similar paddle extensions to my XFR, but I tired of them after a few months so I took them off.
Point is, that 3M tape sticks incredibly hard and they were a right royal PITA to remove.
If you just try to tug or lever them off you risk snapping the paddle or the mount.
What eventually worked for me was to soften the glue first using a hairdryer, and then pull them off by steadily pushing the centre of the outer edge of the extension away from the paddle.

Thanks although I'm not looking to take them off any time soon since they work great. Also, an easier way to remove them is to simply unbolt the original paddles from the steering wheel and then remove the extensions at that point.
