Yeah, I thought about unbolting them first, but then I got to thinking about how I was going to hold the paddle while tugging on the extension. I thought maybe putting it in a vice would be the only way to get a good hold on it, but that would risk damaging the paddle, so I left them in place. Removing them first may or may not make it easier, I reckon the jury is still out!

I'm coming from a few high HP cars but I feel that with the correct mods this car will be able to hold its own on the street as well as the track. The plan is to do the works plus a few custom pieces; wheels/tires, springs, exhaust, tune, front splitter, rear diffuser, high fixed wing, etc.

Welcome Jason and good luck with the build. If you have any questions, let myself or Chris (tuning@velocityap.com) know. More than happy to answer and we have trodden a lot of this ground so we can give you some straight info on what to expect.

Thanks Stuart. I'll reach out to you for a tune in the next few months once I break in the car and get the custom exhaust completed.

In anticipation for the next few months, I started a new thread to gauge interest on aero parts that I am looking to have custom made:

Where did you find the paddle extensions?

I'm looking forward to seeing the springs installed.

H&R springs installed

Shoutout to Branden (SigsJag) who set me up with the H&R 28822-1 springs and for his shop knocking out the install! I dropped off the car this morning and a couple of hours later it was sitting 1.2" lower and ready to go. As far as the ride goes, it's slightly more firm than stock but has a lot less body roll and the car feels more planted. The car will go in for a good alignment in the next month or two once I get around to ordering my new wheels and tires.

You'll love that suspension. BTW, if you took before and after measurements, the rear was actually lowered 1.5". Note that the car no longer looks sloped to the front like with the OEM suspension. It now appears more level.

On the way back, I stopped by the Jaguar/Aston Martin dealership to see my buddy. Of course they just had to have this SVR sitting in the front:

Lance, do you know what the top strut bolts should be torqued at? I want to check and re-torque them this weekend after putting a few miles on and letting the new springs settle.

Agreed. A lot of new top model cars are starting to use those side fender vents which is the most comparable GTR-like feature.

Wheels/Adapters ordered

A little update for you guys. As many of you already know, we don't have many options on lightweight aftermarket wheels for our 5x108 bolt pattern, so I decided to go ahead and have some custom wheel adapters made. I went through Lenny at MotorSport-Tech and had him make me a set of (4) 17mm 5x108 to 5x120 hubcentric wheel adapters. I wanted to run the slimmest adapter and after researching it seems that 17mm adapters/spacers do not require shaving the factory studs.

My brother works for Apex Race Parts so it was a no brainer using a set of wheels from them that are tried and true in the BMW race community. As much as I would love to run 19's on this car, it just wasn't an option (for now) seeing as the 17mm wheel adapters throw off every offset possible. I decided to stick with the 18's and found a perfect fit to run on the F-Type. I just ordered a set of Satin Black EC7's in 18x9.5 +58 (20lbs) and 18x11 +44 (23lbs). The 17mm adapters make it a +41 front and +26 rear which should fit nicely with a set of 265/40R18 and 295/35R18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Wheels should come in the next week or so!

Sneak peak:

That's going to look great!

Good call on the adapters, I'm wondering if that opens up some wheel options for us looking for 20s. As you noted, the offsets will be the major issue.
