F-Type Winter Driving
Hi All: I'm looking at buying a used AWD F-Type (2018 400P) and wanted to know if anyone drives them year round in the snow. I'm in Canada and obviously would have snow tires. Would just like to know how the car handles and people's experience.
2017 S AWD - This is my second winter with it and I drive it most days. Have all-seasons rather than snow tires. Have driven in snow and on snow-packed streets but nothing deep, say, 5" or so. Need to be more careful than an SUV but it works and no regrets. And no accidents. Good luck.
I have a 2017 V6S RWD and drive it in the winter as long as there's no snow or rain. This year, because I was lazy, I drove the car with summer tires for about 3 weeks between Dec-Jan, where the temperature was on average around freezing (they are now replaced with winter tires as usual). The car handled fine 98% of the time even with cold tires. The 2% where I felt unsafe/annoyed was when I had a few occasions where the rear wheels started to go sideways under relatively hard acceleration (both at low and high speeds) and clunking noise from the cold tires (ackerman effect) when the wheels are turned substantially during low speed maneuvers, such as when parking. However, these issues have been rectified with the winter tires.
Awesome video. Our Finnish friends sure know their winter driving.
I'm yet to experience any really slippery conditions in my RWD F-Type but I had that AWD system in my supercharged XF and it worked brilliantly on snow. Handling and traction wise I'm sure an AWD F-Type with winter tyres will be brilliant in winter driving as long as you keep its low ground clearance in mind.
