Factory P-Zero Tire Wear
Almost, an older doctor from a small town in Iowa. Checked the date on the battery and it is dated, week 15 of 2013. I never heard of a battery lasting 8 years. I would say the car was in a heated garage and never seen rain or hooligans.
I've just replaced the battery in my little-used backup Nissan Almera. It was fitted in 2008! MInd you, it was looking very tired, and could only hold a charge for a couple of weeks.
My 2018 came with P-Zeros. I bought the car brand new. I didn't experience tread wear, but when I brought it in to Jaguar in March for yearly service, I was told that I had dry rot on all four tires. My car only had 4500 miles on it. I replaced them with Michelin Sport 4 S, based on recommendations on this board. I find the handling and ride much better since I switched.
I just replaced the original battery on my F-Type a few months ago - not because it was giving me trouble, but because I figured it was due and much easier to deal with preemptively. (Interstate from Costco, BTW) I STILL haven't replaced the original wipers, even though they should be over the hill. They just work perfectly - probably helped by being garaged and limited use. It's not my rainy day car.

Unbelievable, I thought my situation was bad. I have had a lot of brand new cars over the years and never had to replace tires for dry rot. Even on cars that I kept longer, tires were replaced due to treadwear and it occurred at a time when I felt was acceptable.

You misunderstood. They said they have a boat payment due.
I just had my car in for the two year maintenance visit. As part of that they checked the tread depth of the much beloved P-Zero factory tires. The fronts (255/35 20s) are at 9/32. The rears (295/30 20s) are at 7/32. The car only has 1600 miles on it. I double checked the depths myself and they are accurate.
I expected the tires to wear quickly, but the wear on the rears seems a bit excessive. The car has never been tracked and I have been taking it easy as I am still in the 2K mile engine break-in.
Is this wear rate what others are seeing with these tires?

When these P-Zero's on my car are ready to go by bye I will replace them with Pilot Sports.
I just replaced my factory P-Zero tires with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. I discovered that my front tires had a little tread left but my rears were virtually slick. I changed the tires with 14100 miles on the car. The tire technician who replaced my P-Zero's said he was amazed at how many miles I got out of the P-Zero's. According to him he'd never in his life seen anyone get nearly as many miles out of these tires. And I've got to admit, I really prefer the Pilot Sport 4S's. I don't track my car but I'm a spirited driver and the adhesion is just as good and they're quieter.
