Default Finally I Have One

Picked up my 2016 F Type R in Stratus Gray, Carbon Roof, Vision,Black Pack, Grey G wheels ( not my favorite) and all Red leather. Unfortunately had the dreaded problem with stereo so took it back to the dealer today who checked it out and said one sub woofer totally shot and the other pretty bad and ordered news ones. At least the good news was they acknowledged the issue right away made me happy. Boy do I love this car and can't keep my foot out of it. Picking up my wife at the airport tonight haven't told her yet but she knows I sold my car last week and was up to trouble.

Now, my fabulous wife neither "endorsed" nor "shot down" the idea of my getting my 2015 V6S F-Type - nor did I "need" her permission to do so - but I'm quite sure that many Forum members would agree with me that in the name of marital harmony...it's not a bad idea to run it by them. Before bringing it home...or to the airport.

But, again, we're of a different generation.

(Of course, if I were to hit the lottery - which I'm not playing - and decide to buy a McLaren I've been eyeing...honey, I'm home; with a wonderful "orange" surprise). All I can say is "is there a divorce attorney on the Forum"?

Oh, congratulations martybmw. Happy motoring.

Hopefully she didn't take too much luggage - that could lead to a bad first impression.

Might be time to think of a new user name!

I would like to see a photo not only of the car, but of your wife's face when you pick her up in it.

P.S. - Good luck!

It all depends upon the couple. Both my wife and I occupy executive positions in different organizations, and we make about equivalent salaries. She buys what she wants without consulting me (unless it's a car because she wants my advice). I do the same. I've purchased many cars and had them sitting in the garage without telling her. It's become a tradition with us, and usually she just walks right past them without noticing.

It works for us . . .

Just like, oh, I'd say 90% of the population which just doesn't care what kind of car one drives.

And if that works for you, that's [always] only what matters. (I'm afraid that while you know your wife and your wife knows you - same for me and my wife - that can't always be said for others). Or, in the words of Lance, "good luck with that".

My wife and I had an extremely bad experience when we returned a leased S-Type a couple of years ago. She still doesn't like Jags too well. But maybe some day...
If I brought one home without telling her, I would be:

1. Divorced
2. Homeless
3. Broke
4. Missing.

And not necessarily in that order. Meanwhile, we all wish the OP good luck, both with his F-Type and with his wife.

My wife uses a technique called "punitive shopping". In February I spent 3 weeks in Patagonia (Chile and Argentina) hiking the back country while she enjoyed her shopping freedoms. As to the F-Type, she's as much responsible as I am.

I suspect quite a few of us married types - happily so I might add - know a thing or two about "punitive shopping" Desert Hiker (although I usually try to be proactive about that and often buy my wife gifts just for the hell of it; call it "credit towards" punitive shopping if you will).

Meanwhile, we've yet to hear back from martybmw...

Either the couple is delighted and tooling around in their new F-Type or martybmw is dead. Let's hope, and my guess is, the former.
