First time buying a NEW car...and it will be an F-Type
Thanks Dwight! Good info on build dates! Yes, I was half-tempted to go with the Matte Finish Ligurian Black to round out the "stealth-mobile", but I was afraid it might not "age well" long-term. So, I went with the classic black. I grew up as a caddy at an exclusive country club and fell in love with some of the members 80s era XJ40s and XJS in classic black and have never gone back. Can't wait to see pics of your BRG/Tan Hyde. Magnificent and such an homage to Jaguar spirit!
The auto industry’s supply-chain issues are moving beyond semiconductors, which will affect delivery times...

I guess it will remain to be seen how the chip and other materials shortages affect Jaguar production. Being a small volume manufacturer may work to their advantage. Or not.
Picking the color was difficult. The manufacturer's website allows one to "try on" various colors with the magic of some type of photoshop-like process. But it is not the same as seeing the colors in person. Luckily Land Rover uses some of the same paints and the dealers I visited had plenty of Land Rovers on their lots compared to Jaguars, I didn't realize that Santorini Black was metallic until I saw it first hand. Bluefire Blue is stunning in person. I wasn't able to see any vehicles in BRG but luckily there were a few Youtube videos that reviewed F Types in that color and were photographed well. The metallic properties of the paint don't really show up on Jaguar's website but on the videos the car looks like it was painted at the Emerald City Paint & Body Shop. I'm sure it will be quite attractive in real life.
I can remember seeing E Types in that color back in the 1960's as a wide eyed little motorhead so I'm sure nostalgia has a lot to do with it for me.

Good afternoon All,
Just received a message from my dealer. Finally received an "allocation" for my '21 F-Type R. Delivery at the end of August, but they said it will be a MY2022. He said the F-Types and F-Paces were receiving priority in the build schedules due to the "highest demand" stateside. Apparently, I-Paces have been delayed a number of times and continue to get pushed back.

Saw a red F-type convertible this afternoon - on I-196 in SW Michigan. I’m in the XE, but I’ll have the F-type in South Haven (my home town) this summer, if you’d like to see/drive an early F-type. It’s only a V6...
It’s been to the Gilmore a few times.
