First two weeks with my F-Type R
After purchasing a 2015 F-Type R with 4,000 miles on it, here are the results I have had.
Boy is it fast, beautiful and fun. When I bought my Infiniti G37s 6 years ago I was so excited. It was my first "sports" car, and I was so happy. This FType is just obviously on another level. It sounds SO good, it looks amazing, and it has been my favorite vehicle of all time next to my 03 Indian Chief.
One thing I really appreciated about my Infiniti (although the comparison isn't really apples and oranges) was that for the six years I owned it, it was bulletproof. Here are the things I need to have checked under what should be factory warranted:
Stereo rattles. I am pretty happy with the stereo sound overall. I've had custom stereos in most every car I have owned. Aftermarket decks, speakers and subs..the Meridian 770 system doesn't have the sub punch of an enclosed subwoofer, but it's good enough in the sense that I don't think I will replace the factory system anytime soon. I do have rattles and buzzes at some frequencies. I will be addressing this at the dealer because it is annoying as hell.
Trunk latch. When I open the trunk, the latch stays closed, so I have to manually push the latch over to the right to close the trunk.
Rear window passenger trim peice. It's coming loose. I know this is a problem with others I have read about on this forum.
Trim carpet next to rubber trim pieces where floorboard meets door. It seems like, the carpet is a little too short. Every now and then the seam is visible next to the rubber trim peice, and I have to tuck both sides back under it. Minor issue, but still there.
Check Engine light. This came on for the first time last night. This is my main concern obviously. Being that this 2015 had only 4000 miles on it from the place I bought it (not a Jaguar dealer, but a luxury car dealership in Dallas) I am assuming there have been no software updates applied to this car since it was made. I do have a concern that a software update will reduce the noise level of the exhaust as I have read some of those stories on this forum. I hope that "bug" has been fixed as I would be severely disappointed if that happened, because this exhaust is pure joy.
I still have no idea what the S+ and S- does other than it puts it in sport mode lol. I've read some of the posts here, and am trying it out today, I haven't had it in both sports mode and dynamic mode at e same time, and am curious to check it out. Although my Infiniti had paddle shifters, didn't play around with them much, and am probably missing out on that experience.
Overall, really happy with this car. I hope these issues above are worked out successfully and easily at my local Austin dealership. They have old horrible service reviews, but have improved over time from what I am reading review-wise.
I will also be getting the ceramic pro done after the above issues are worked out.
This forum has been super helpful. Thanks to everyone!

You can manually change up/down using the shifter in Sports mode (instead of using the paddles).
Congratulations! I am 5 days in my 2016 F Type R and I CAN NOT STOP driving it!
I had leased an Infiniti G37 (sedan) before and it was all-around a tremendous experience.
However, last year I jumped into a 2015 Jaguar XF V8 S/C and it was immediately...different.
F Type though...an unparalleled experience. Enjoy, like I and we all do!

Don't worry about losing exhaust sound with any s/w updates. JLR has sorted that issue. I've had it done and it sounds exactly the same as before.
Find a tunnel, use Dynamic and Sport mode. Sex on wheels...

Have both brands as well. FTYPE, Q50hybrid, QX60, G37ipl. I've had an M37 and three G's over the last 10 years. They all have a purpose but the FTYPE has but one purpose in my life....pure joy provider.
Wow, add another G guy here lol. I've had mine for 11 years and still love it. But yes the Jaguar is on another level. Glad your liking your F Type and i'm sure you'll get those issues fixed.
