Garage Parking Safely
Our lift is a 25 year old Stinger, purchased new.
Stinger by Axe
When we bought it (before the popularity of SUVs and crossovers) we could fit our '93 minivan under it, or on top, and still have room for a sedan underneath. (12 foot ceiling in the garage). Nowadays vans and SUVs are taller, and we wish we had purchased the optional 12" HIGHER lift, not so much because we needed the room for cars, but so that I would not need to stoop down while sweeping/cleaning underneath. (ouch!) Additionally, it would be easier for the lower vehicle to raise a trunk/hood/tailgate if the lift were higher.

A friend and my son-in-law recently purchased BendPak lifts for themselves...they are nice too.

Both of the BP lifts require shop air to release the locking mechanisms. Ours is a simple lever.
The only money we ever needed to put into this lift system was to install new pulleys. The newer bearing type are more robust than the old bushing style.
We use either a transmission floor jack or a tripod jack when we do repairs that require wheels off the car. You can see the jackstands to the left wall, past the Jaguar.

FWIW, I reverse into my garage space. Shortly after getting the car, the big obstacle with driving in forward was that the larger space need for driver exit was too tight, next to my wife's XJR. And backing in lets me get far enough away from the driver side workbench that I can exit most easily, and not bump my door. Plus the rear camera guides me where I want to be, and the warning defines the stop point. So, she has learned to maneuver into her space, also enabled by the absence of obstacles to her driver door opening. It's a bit narrow now between the two cars, but I rarely need to access either except to drop in library books or similar onto the front seat.
I have several garages, although none suited for my F-Type, unless I drive the FT to Portugal and leave it there in winter...
Here the one connected to the house is to shallow and the door opens so you can not get into the garage when there is a car inside [ mistake of the builder..].
Then I have a free standing barn, but access to the garage part it through a field. OK for the landrover and tractor.. ,, not for the FT.
And the part I can access is where the horses stay in the night..
