Yesterday I left home and drove to my local Jaguar Dealer in a white F-type convertible. Three hours later I drove home in a white F-type convertible. Sounds like a non-event doesn't it, but it wasn't. The F-Type I left home driving was a 2014 S and the one I returned in was a 2016 R AWD. Hooray, no more shiny black wheels that are impossible to keep clean, and there's a bit more power too, about 170 HP.
The silver wheels won't stay clean for long, although I don't have a data point for ease of cleaning.
Have you done a celebratory burnout yet?
I've had painted silver wheels on numerous cars over the years, and they were never the problem that the F-type wheels were. You couldn't drive five miles w/o seeing the streaks and dulling effect of brake dust on the shiny black finish. Plus, the design had a lot of nooks and crannies that were hard to clean.
No burnouts yet, but the AWD limits the tendency. I was looking at a MB AMG GT, but I saw a video of a AMG GT/S vs an F-Type R AWD at a drag strip. The R fairly leapt out of the box and had the GT/S by two lengths in the first fifty or sixty feet. It went on to win by six or seven car lengths. I credit the slower spin up of the AMG's turbos and the R's AWD, since they had the same HP and the GT/S was slightly lighter.
Also, beside being fast, this thing is LOUD!!! My F-Type S was quieter with the valves open than the R in stealth mode. My 2012 Corvette had dual mode exhaust, which I kept open all the time. It wasn't close to the R. I'm not complaining mind you, just commenting. I love the pops and crackles on the over run and the rap under acceleration.

The problem is the pads, not the wheel color. The silver wheels will be even worse to keep clean. The OEM pads are just super dusty.

My last three cars before the two F-Types were 2 AMG's and a Z4. I don't think any pads are worst than those made in Germany. So far I've driven the R with the silver wheels about 100 miles. There's only light dust on the wheels and it's hardly noticeable. The black wheels would have looked terrible by now. I had to clean them every time I drove the car.
Great car!
I hope you have understanding neighbors or old people with hearing impairment! I know for me personally the decibels alone would not pass the wife test.
nice car; congrats. I think you'll find the others are correct; the silver wheels will get dirty just as fast or faster than the black ones did........it's a function of the brakes and pads and since brake dust is blackish grey, it shows up on light colored wheels more.....oh well, first world problems. If you really don't like the dust showing, get flat charcoal colored wheels! :-)
