Car in the shop replacing OEM suspensions and a rock chip right at the edge of the glass roof / windshield on the roof side was noticed. Assume glass roofs aren't covered under warranty (2017) in USA? If I need to replace, does anyone have links to carbon roofs?
In many states, the windshield would be covered by insurance (I got a new one in my XE a couple of months into ownership, no deductible here.) No clue about roof coverage, however.
On other makes with panoramic sunroofs, the manufacturer always considers glass breakage a road hazard (not a defect). Heck, I've had road debris cause seeming 'door dings' in metal roofs!
That damage should be covered by your insurance company's glass coverage.
I had a stone thrown up by the car ahead of me about 6 months ago. Hit at the perfect spot between the windshield and glass roof. Cracked both. Insurance covered the replacement of both under the same deductible.
I asked about the carbon fiber roof at the time and my dealership, while not giving me the actual cost, said it was extremely expensive.
I've had my panoramic roof replaced after a rock cracked it through the PPF. The whole thing was covered by my vehicle insurance (South Africa) and I paid a deductible.
It cost around $3000 all in and took two days to replace by my local Jag dealer.
