Yeah that is what I did, just used spacers and slightly longer bolt, works a treat, took the car for a mad drive, corner carving, hitting brakes hard, zero noise or movement from the back.

My stock battery weighed 25.9kg on my scales, the RS30 was 4.6kg so the saving is good. I also removed the tyre gel, the inflator and have not bothered with the lid to battery compartment, just kept the main cover. As such I am about 25kg out the car from battery swap.

I also noticed the entire rear of the car seems to have specially cut foam inserts under the carpets, I assume this is to maintain the carpet shape? I doubt it weighs anything, just never had a car that had so much foam in the rear.

2PC brakes should get installed this week, so that is close to 50kg removed. Question is now, where else can I reduce weight in this car, any other hidden parts that can be removed or parts replaced for lighter components? My wheels are not too heavy been the SVR forged wheels so would be pretty pointless messing there and no doubt very expensive.

I reckon those foam inserts in the rear are for both shaping and noise insulation.
I loosened off the panels and took mine out to prepare for fitting the VAP springs (they fit right over the top strut bolts), but without taking the panels right off there was only just enough room to get them out and I ended up breaking the RHS one in half anyway!
Yes, they weigh bugger all, I wouldn't bother removing them unless you need to access the top strut bolts.

I am having a lightened flywheel designed and built as we speak for the MT. The OEM flywheel weighs in at 38 lbs. They should be able to bring the new one in under 18 lbs. They also expect to cut the weight of the clutch by a few lbs as well. This project is being done to resolve the questionable OEM clutch and to change performance characteristics of the engine more so than to reduce vehicle weight.

Just a word of advice with flywheels, do not go too light, the reason some cars run quite heavy flywheels is for dampening harmful vibrations, so they make them heavy for longevity of other components, also if its too light it could make the car not as nice to drive.

So definitely make sure you working with someone who really knows what they are doing, but yes if done right a lighter flywheel and lighter drive shaft can really make a difference in how a vehicle revs and of course have a good impact on acceleration, I've know people gain upto three tenths in quarter mile with a flywheel and driveshaft combination.

Here's the final installation. That thing ain't goin' nowhere. Except for one bushing and 1 extra length bolt for the tie-down rod, everything is left OEM.

For those of you interested in the AG LS-30 battery, parts you will need is:
1. M8-1.25 x 30mm bolt
2. 3/8" (10mm) spacer. (you will probably have to drill out the hole to 3/8' or 10mm)
3. 8"x14" piece of black foam rubber drawer lining (

Anti-Gravity just raised the minimum price that their dealers can sell the batteries by $50 to $680. Billet Proof is checking to see if AG will let him honor the $630 on the group buy. Please let me know if you want in at $630. The order would have to go in as a group order all at the same time.

I have been reading this thread with interest but was wondering if it is a good idea to put a LiPO battery in a car. If a collision were to happen they might catch fire. LiPOs do that on occasion when damaged.

Any thoughts?

Suffice it to say, I am sufficiently confident of the technology to employ this technology on my baby. You need to make a determination for yourself.

Are you removing a similar weight from the front of the car, to maintain the 50/50 weight distribution?

Wow, ordered mine yesterday and it was sitting on my doorstep when I got home today! Being used to lead acid batteries, I stressed out for a second as the battery was sitting upside down, but then I remembered the rules have changed with lithium. This baby is light. Gotta believe as the costs come down this will become standard in most cars.

Now I have to get smart about what you guys did to install this....

Default Love the new technology

Installed my RS-30 today. 30 mins, using velcro, longer bolt and 3/8 inch spacer and installed without issue. Came with 2 sizes of negative terminal posts, the larger one was perfect for the F type. Ridiculously lightweight, restart technology, and cool LED status lights, almost seems worth the price of entry.

As a bonus, for those with 2015 models, its worthy to note that the silly eco stop start battery weighs almost the same as the new antigravity starter battery, which means I effectively removed the entire 58lb weight of the factory starter battery from my car with one simple upgrade!

Can't wait for the new lightweight rotors (-50lbs), combined with existing forged wheels (-40lbs), battery (-55 lbs) VAP springs and exhaust (-20 lbs) engine cover/misc (-10lbs) my car will be down from 3850 to 3675 lbs. Still too heavy, but 605 horsepower can make up for at least some of that excess weight

Those now with RS 30 when you press battery status, how many blue lights do you get, mine was 2 when I got it, still 2 now. Just wondering what others have got?
